So Patricia de Lille is complaining about mxit and blogging on the net and wants government to start regulating mxit or forums.

What do you guys think?

I personally think she needs to think this through. I have a lot of respect for her, but this is just silly. Mxit may be a new phenomenon in SA, but chatting is pretty old. And with broadband penetration coming at a speed, the idea to regulate it is silly. What should be done is kids should be educated at school in a way that will make an impact. A video with stories with kids who never thought it will happen to them who did not care for mxit's warnings of privacy. Kids today need to learn visually. They almost need to be traumatised into being careful. I have met a chick i chatted with, 2 in fact. The one i had chatted with for years before we met, and still great buddies. The other was way younger than she claimed, but with her i insisted she comes with an adult, which she did. Got out of that one easy.

The other problem, i am fairly sure Patricia de Lille always goes on about corruption in government. So the question is, do you want a corrupt government to monitor your every keystroke on keyboard or keypad? They cant even be trusted to get the school system running properly but we want to give them one of our few freedoms.

I know this term is repeated all the time everywhere, and has lost most of its meaning, but the only viable long term solution is educating the people. Then after that, if they atop their heads, their own fault. Parents should also be more involved in their kids' lives. Don't imprison the country because of a few kids who are stupid or a few pervs. Tell then about the dangers, drill it in. It will only get worse as we get more connected.

The ground that mobile technology is breaking is both good and bad, and some issues were there before the mobile boom. The mobile boom just made it more relevant to everyday life.

Never ever really got into Mxit.I used to be a mopilot.com chatter but even that got a bit boring.Remember meeting a dutch guy on mopilot in the music room called John Oosterhuizen aka Zjohka. We got on really well cause of our love of dance music and he sent me a DVD with 4GB of Trance/Electro/House music. So yeah chatrooms can be productive.lol Im getting into this Facebook thing at the moment.Ive hooked up with many a blast from the past.It amazing how easy technology has made it too keep in contact with friends from all over the world.Just type in a name and BAM,theres your buddy you havent seen in 10 years, and all his friend, half of which are also your friends. Its quite overwhelming at times and sometimes in the back of your mind you thinking,'WHAT THE HELL HAVE I STARTED HERE!'

Found an unusual Afrikaans wallpaper on tagtag today...

http://tagtag.com/site/pictur[....]t=3&dummy=&fSearch=&fDoSearch=

BTW, funny how digital cameras and cellphones can't seem to capture really deep purple colours.
This was taken with the N73 and it's come out an almost pure blue. I took a similar pic with a digital camera and got the same result, colour-wise. Lighter purples, like on the second pic, are no problem it seems. Weird...

Some good news that I read earlier on AOL, let's hope any other such dregs take note:

'Worldwide spam fraudster arrested.

Last Updated: Thursday, 31 May 2007, 13:24 GMT

Robert Soloway was arrested and charged over email fraud.
US authorities say computer users everywhere could notice a decrease in junk email after a man described as one of the world's most prolific spammers was arrested.

A federal grand jury last week returned a 35-count indictment against Robert Soloway, 27, charging him with mail fraud, wire fraud, email fraud, aggravated identity theft and money laundering.

On Thursday Soloway denied all the charges which relate to claims that he used networks of compromised "zombie" computers to send out millions of spam emails.

He entered his plea after a judge determined that -- even with four bank accounts seized by the US government -- he was sufficiently well off to pay for his own lawyer.

Soloway had been living in a ritzy apartment and drove an expensive Mercedes convertible, said prosecutor Kathryn Warma.

Prosecutors are seeking to have him forfeit 773,000 US dollars (£386,500) they say he made from his business, Newport Internet Marketing. They allege that Soloway has used computers infected with malicious code to send out millions of junk emails since 2003. The computers are called "zombies" because owners typically have no idea their machines have been infected. He continued his activities even after Microsoft won a £3.5 million civil judgment against him in 2005 and the operator of a small internet service provider in Oklahoma won a £5 million judgment, prosecutors said.

US Attorney Jeff Sullivan said this case was the first in the country in which federal prosecutors had used identity theft statutes to prosecute a spammer for taking over someone else's internet domain name.

Soloway used the networks of compromised computers to send out unsolicited bulk emails urging people to use his internet marketing company to advertise their products, authorities said.

People who clicked on a link in the email were directed to his website. There, Soloway advertised his ability to send out as many as 20 million email advertisements over 15 days for £250, the indictment said.

Soloway has been remanded in custody until a hearing on Monday.'

It was really wierd having a black kid singing that song. lol
