Some Sony factories have closed.

have said all Xperia phones in 2011 will have HD voice capability which will hopefully mean a better ear piece in the Arc & others

But some reviews have stated the Arc has very cheap plastic feel to it

Most of the feedback I have read and videos that I have send in regards to the general build quality and feel of the phone has been very positive. Untill you have one in the palm of your hands your never going to be quite sure.
EDIT:
Tracey&Matt and phonearena, who I have always found to pretty much spot on when it comes to giving their honest opinions on the very latest handsets, praise the Arc's build quality and feel, and Matt said even though it is made of plastic it doesn't feel plasticky.

Now,that's plain English. Even though made of plastic does not feel plasticky

I do wish

made their top end handsets with metal or whatever is better than plastic

I agree, but if they use high quality material then that will obviously reflect in the price, which is not good news for us the consumer.

If SE used aluminium the price would reflect the price the consumer is paying more like especially sim free.
As for contracts phones like the DHD which aluminium made phone can be had free on a £35 a month contract easily just the same as when the X10 came out only difference one is plastic the other is metal and of course one feels like quality as oppose to the other.

Have you actually held the Arc in your hand?? If not maybe you should reserve judgement untill you have.

More than 90% of

manufacturing is made in China. The rest 10% is spread out thru the world.

I read that three manufacturing plants have been closed. One plant making memory cards has being affected.

I have just seen this regarding the Silver Arc in the UK
CPWTweets RT @SonyEricssonUK: The Misty Silver Xperia ARC will be exclusive to The Carphone Warehouse in the UK from launch and the month of April

I was expecting silver to be exclusive to one provider in the UK. Either way expansys usually gets it's hands on some and I'll probably buy from a Chinese retailer instead of waiting till I'm back in the UK.
Arc is currently 4,630yuan on expansys.cn (approx GBP435) but nowhere in the world I've seen has silver arc listed yet.
I'm sure we won't but I really hope we aren't seeing a similar situation to the piePhone white seeing light nearly a year after the black.
