Why do Sony send out prototypes to Review sites then? Because surely a big company like Sony know that negative reviews will make people go for a different handset which will affect sales? They should send retail versions.

we're still waiting for a review that features a real good display
hope we can see some change with the release of the retail units next week.

how bout instead of waiting for reviews.. you just go and try it out at a store when you can? trust your own eyes and impressions. you've already heard 1st hand reviews from your fellow esato users who have gone and tried it themselves.
it's just funny how many people rely on reviews instead of their own experiences.

that's not really the point of all the complaining. i already belong to the sony captive market. i would hold off buying instead of going to another company. this is just an expression of discontent over how sony handles things. they never go all out. they always hold something back. they never come up with a perfect product. if it's true that they're letting people review imperfect prototypes, they're just showing how inferior their PR machine is. why do they love giving out devices that are not ready yet (if they're not really the final product)? it's really sad how the brand you like is getting hurt by all these reviews.

Did Xperia Z screen improve with later batches or still screen lottery?

It is a display lottery. Some are excellent and some are average. XperiaJunkie has a phone with the very good display and Ambroos has one with the average display. The average display is still better than the Z/ZL display.
The display on my ZL has poor viewing angles but almost every time I show a picture to someone they compliment on the display quality. 99% of people do not care about viewing angles.
I get that, but why isn't Sony ensuring that the press and reviewers get the absolute best display. Its the first thing you see, and so it can heavily colour how you react to the rest of the phone. Set off on the wrong foot (i.e with a bad screen) and the reviewer will inherently not like it much, even if the rest is amazing.
XYZ - IFA is over why do you keep posting this crap over and over - give it a rest, we will all know soon enough were we're at - seriously you're like a broken record - go buy an HTC and give us all a rest
