Zomg has stated the new watch may use the same display tech JDI unveiled previously with that 651ppi 2.3" display, only the watch would be 1.5". I hope it's true because the image quality would be AMAZING.

まあまあ。。気にしないで
so are we really gonna see two things on the 25th? that would be great!!! if the new smart watch offers something different and unique over the old one, perhaps i'll invest in one. i didn't think the old one offered enough wow features to make me get one even though it is a great novelty item. the price just wasn't right.

I haven't heard a crazier rumour in weeks... And we can hear some pretty crazy rumours when tech sites have slow news days...
I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying the idea is crazy. A 1080p 5"display right next to your eye makes it impossible to see individual pixels. Now an even higher ppi one at 1-2', that's crazy.
Brightness will suffer a lot. Battery life too potentially.

I hope that 615ppi rumor is true and the body is rugged and water resistant!
Speaking of which, I don't know how people can buy a smart watch that ISN'T water resistant. Hope Sony took inspiration from their own recent line of water-resistant phones like the Xperia Z/UL/A.

Just to note this is the dispay tech zomg referred to:
http://www.j-display.com/english/news/2012/20120604.html
I've used my friends current Sony smart watch and I have to admit the screen is pretty "meh". Text is so-so to read, and icons and images are pixelated and pretty crappy. IF Sony is going to use this tech, they'll be setting the benchmark for smart watch displays, and this will be VERY important with other big players like Samsung and Apple working on their own watches.
One would hope this display is very power efficient or they'll be able to stuff in a decent sized battery. I suppose the good part is we'll only have to wait a few more days to find out.

If sony announces a smartwatch on June 25, then the probability of Togari announcement is lower i guess.
Maybe Togari will be announced on July 4th in Paris, I did not really understand the necessity of this event if it appeard redundant with the Cina and German events on June 25.
So we might get:
- June 25: Smartwatch in China and Germany
- June 27: Mystery device as part of new camera anouncements, fitting in Shanghai during Mobile Asia Expo.
- July 4: Togari as per Sony Paris invite
- August: Honami, just before IFA Berlin
- Oct/Nov: 4.x inch Honami
I am not sure what Ray 3 corresponds to.
I hope the mystery device is the leak from Maia.
Could Ray 3 be the 4.x inch Honami?
Anyway the clock is ticking, maybe some new phones as early as next week!

im almost sure they will announce Togari on 25th June in China and Germany.
Following in France on 4th July... just a watch to hold so many events is just too weak -.-"

@vivftp - the current smartwatch is a few years old already and uses a fairly simple OLED screen, which from what I understand, makes it very battery friendly. As a watch, you don't want to have to charge it all the time. Perhaps once every 2 weeks would be acceptable. I wonder if using the new JDI screen will be a battery drain? it'll be interesting to see.
I do agree that they should make it water resistant and surprised the current one doesn't already sport this feature. At this point, with almost all their new devices having this feature, it'd be unlikely that they left it out of the new smartwatch.
I'm looking forward to it and hope it can offer additional features that will make it worth the investment for me. I'm a big watch lover and I like funky/novelty ones. But it has to be worth the money. Let's hope Sony can deliver this time!
