Sorry to inform you standard hotmail doesnt support pop you need the paid service, there is another agregator that you can use to pull it but it all becomes a little messy personal I would either forward your mail to gmail and thats you sorted.

oh help! help! help!

as of this morning i couldn't open either illustrator (10) or photoshop (7) on glorious g5 and have been right around the houses trying to get it sorted.

first i headed straight for disk utilities, found a few errors and repaired the hard disk.

next i reinstalled the offending software, to no avail. have had a thorough search on the net, but haven't found anything that gives me the slightest clue as to what's happened.

of course these adobe versions are pretty old and there isn't support for them anymore.

any ideas?... anyone!

A bit more information would be great, are you running Leopard if so then if you not running the latest photoshops etc they not going to run on Leopard.

If everything was working a few days before can u recall installing anything that might have caused this problem? You might want to repair the permission by booting into disk utility from the install cd, if you dont know how to do this here u go.

Restart hold on C and select your OSX Install cd, proceed up to the point where u can select options at the top of the install bar, and you will find disk utility run it from there and it might help.

i'm on tiger (10.4.10) and yes, before the w'end everything was fine. nothing downloaded or installed recently, no fonts, no freeware.

however, when i launch photoshop it hangs at "reading fonts…" illustrator doesn't even get started! then in both cases i get the "report to apple box".

could you create a guest account with admin rights and try and launch apps from new account? this to narrow the problem down

yes i tried that too, but the problem persists. in your opinion, with both apps failing at the same time would u say that this is an error with adobe or apple? that's the sticking point for me...

I've had this problem a couple of times in the past at work. It's caused by a corrupted Adobe Font Database.

Have a look at Point 10 on the page below:

Anyone worried about Apple's downward spiral in quality lately?

First, the new iMac - widespread display freezing problems (see below), and my SuperDrive took a crap after one month's use. [Luckily I prodded Apple into sending me a new one before having to return the old one. The new one has some obvious hardware changes: different memory vendor, different SuperDrive, and overall faster performance. Looks like Apple's making improvements on the fly.]

Next, the new iPod Classics. I played with one at the local Apple Store and found the UI extremely sluggish and coarse. I tried several others and all were the same. The click-wheel takes 2-3 seconds to respond to finger scrolling; the center button lags the user by 1-2 seconds; scrolling stutters embarassingly; graphics take ages to pop into place. This, too, is well-known by now (example below). My old iPod Photo was faster, smoother, and more reliable than this!

Finally, Leopard proves my point that no OS X version is worth buying until at least 10._.2. I had a question about Time Machine (does it work with network drives?) and couldn't find an available "Genius." So I found a demo iMac, opened Time Machine, and clicked "?" for help. This gave me a spinning beachball for about 3 minutes, followed by "This application closed unexpectedly."

I love Apple's products, but I can no longer blindly purchase them.
