^ Why not using the 20MP module like the one going into the Z4?

better be, but seeing how the Z4 will be thinner than the Z ultra makes me think that it could be a IMX230 w, unless Z4 ultra is thicker, it should be the same but maybe lower MP.

The next ultra must aim at the note - it should have everything the main flag get AND more. remember the note is considered by many as samsung true flag. sony needs to make that statement as well. they made similar ststement with the compact. no compromise. imo it should mean not to exceed somewhere around 165 mm height or even less then that while maintaining 6" to 6.2" max display if possible . better aim at t2 ultra height at 165mm and not at the commonly criticized z ultra at 179mm. the height that cause it to be the least pocket friendly phablet and the camera got the most common criticism. sony better address these as highest priority as well as other things mentioned here many times like delicate software enhancements like simple 2 windows mode. the troublesome shatter film and some other drawbacks are things of the past.

This brand new panel from JDI looks very promising indeed, I'd put a very good bet on it making it's way into the Z4/Z4 Ultra.

I really wonder what the point of the Z3s will be, assuming it will only bring minor updates, unless the device will be specifically only targeted at Japan and the US? I feel it would be best to actually wait for the Z4 since it might actually come with this new panel and the new IMX230 sensor.

I am curious how many members here would be against Sony introducing a camera bump on the next Z4?

Sorry for off topic but z ultra thread is a bit dead. I'm considering buying z ultra for now and then in q4 sell it and buy either main (or ultra if it has more compact dimensions) because i just found a great deal at amazon - 285 euros including taxes and shipping (!). the only drawback about it for me is that it won't be possible to be carried in my pants pocket, especially not while sitting and even worse then that - it may crack or bend the device. conclusion: i would have to carry it inside a backpack or a bag 24/7 while using it as daily driver. i really appreciate the big display and premium feel. i know i would also have to remove the troublesome shatter film from front and back and apply a tempered glass for both sides once the shatter film get scratched really bad. as of now it is unavailable to try at the stores. any z ultra owner can help me decide whether this device is for me or not?

I would be against a hump back for the camera.

And didn't a Sony exec say Z4 is the next device? What is all the talk of Z3S?

^ "Z3s" is a synonymous for the Z4 which will be (according to some rumors) a smaller update to the Z3. That why it's being called like that.

Actually I was referring to the Z3s as being the little update which is supposed to be due in april/may/june timeframe, and the real Z4 as the one due for IFA or there abouts. Regardless of the naming, I feel the model due in the fall is the better investment if people are willing to wait. Of course this depends how much Sony is willing to update the current Z3, camera wise mostly for me. If the new model will have the IMX230 then I might just upgrade now in the spring, but if it comes with the current IMX220, I'll wait till the fall.
