Another bit of news I got this morning, Cell C have introduced free calls on its network over weekends...basically what it means is that you just have to recharge for during the week and your calls on the weekend to another Cell C subscriber will be free.

Heard on radio yesterday morning. The marketing head for Cell C was on Metro FM when he announced the plan. And yes, it also extends to PAYG subscribers.

That's a nice touch from Cell C; hopefully it will be emulated by the other networks.

So the new

phones are on view at the

flagship store in the swanky Kensington area in London. Methinks I need to make a trip down there in the near future...
Some size comparison pics between the K750i and the new K850i:

There's no regulation AFAIK that says they can't do it. They're not robbing Peter to pay Paul!

There is, I think. They cant provide dramatically reduced prices, causing other SPs to lower theres and then a year later someone goes bankrupt.

@786KBR: I think a telecoms expert, who knows about regulatory frameworks, needs to comment on this.
It might seem uncompetitive to Vodacom/MTN/Virgin, as you allege. The same could be said for networks and their offer of free phones, good on the surface but bad for competition- if that logic is followed.

No no basic competition is allowed deals on contracts etc.
But anyway I hear its only CellC to CellC which is ok I guess. If it was to any network that would be "dramatic" and maybe unlawful....

There's a few similar deals here like that, but they're usually also limited to the same network like Cell C is doing (such as Vodafone's 'Family' setup, etc.)
Good on Cell C! That's really an effective strategy to get family members and loved ones onto the same network.
Spit yer dummy a bit more now, Telcom.

And to think networks in the US having been doing this sort of thing for years.
@786KBR: Don't know how you missed my first post about Cell C's new strategy. It was officially unveiled today in the press.
