its not really like that...with swiss manager we can see all apps that are running, even the hidden ones - the thing is, the amount off memory available, with the same number of system apps running on memory, will decrease over time, with apparently nothing there that justifies it

@Space_2, nice explaination!

Another point, on dissappearing RAM(memory leakage or otherwise); it's hard to administrate the phones efficiently at the moment, because the current crop of available administrative tools are very limited in function......but as in any OS, it's possible that processes or threads could be taking up excess RAM, due to unclean task management(have seen this before in UNIX systems; it's a PITA).
We should be able to assume that have created a clean, efficient OS(from the kernel, throughout), but as the phone suffers so badly from the RAM issues, I'm guessing not......
As more admin tools become available, I'll let you know what I can find(R3B Voda f/w).....

@akdemiru

Can you please try out the still photo quality with Autofocus on ?
I wonder if this had been improved or remained the same and most pictures taken this way are still out of focus...

Also, could you upload that firmware file somewhere and share it ?

I think you didn´t get the firmware we will be get will most probably be different than this one that is being discussed??? And you are judging something you don´t have yet??? Wait till you have it on your phone, then rant at will, if justified

Btw, one more clue which shows that the ewn firmware is VERY close: check out the developer website of SE ( http://developer.sonyericsson.com ). They posted an article about the update of the Java virtual machine. Which means with the new firmware of M600/P990 there will be new features in the phone (the java vm will support SVG images). And they clearly state that it will be supported on the P990/M600 in the upcommming firmware release.

@ares
I don't have anymore SwissManager PRO, but Swissmanager doesn't show ALL the applications. It shows on my m600 only the Main menu, Standby, Phone and Connection manager, but there are a lot more apps/processes running. These are the ones with the standard user interface, but there are a series of servers running. Just run Procinfo from SE, it shows ~30 tasks, ~80 processes and 100+ threads With only SwissManager and Procinfo running as user applications.

From Space_2's link:

"The W950 Walkman® phone will ship with JSR 226 support whilst the M600 messaging device and P990 smartphone will be retro-actively fitted with JSR 226 support from software revision R5A01 and onwards."

akdemiru's handset shows as R4A(ORG, although, worryingly his BT IS R5A01).....
