cheers, i've tried pinging both the incoming and outgoing servers and got their ip's although no ping returned. unfortunatly they're not working on the phone either. the no.s were 193.35.131.188 and 193.35.131.155. am i right in saying that there's nothing else i have to do to get this up and running? i mean nothing else to set up?
starting to think orange is a big pile of rubbish... or i should go back to school...

MrCoxy i would try doing a search for the Orange email settings here on esato... that should find the correct ip addy's for u. apart from that u seem to be doing everything correct. are u conecting via GPRS?

cheers chris and evoke. did a search and got some advice from someone called pachy about connecting with freeserve instead of orange but still get the same error msg. i'll give orange a call tomorrow and see what they say
