Camera is 'good' like the T but not a massive leap

Good review. I think the screen issue is overblown thou.
Camera is the deal breaker for me. Both modes (albeit normal mode looks better) are no real improvement on the X S for me the S3 still produces nicer images at 8 mpx.

It's interesting to use GSMs compare tool to put the Z up against the hte Oppo Find 5 as they use the same sensor. Between the 3 sample shots, for the most part the Find 5 has less noise than the Z camera, but there are still some areas where the Z gives a sharper and more overallp leasing image.
It'll be interesting to see if Sony releases further software updates to improve things like camera performance.

The Xperia Z though there's still significantly less detail, but part is also down to the "cheaper sensor and optics", and mainly the use of processing algorithms (mainly sharpening) is evident.
Xperia S poor camera, Xperia T poor camera and now Xperia Z poor camera!
Phonearena and Gsmarena have said that the camera xperia z as bad, what is missing now happen to you again admit that Sony failed?
Xperia Z, 13 megapixels usable only for posting images on social networks!

Nice username. Gsmarena stated that the camera matches the daylight performance of the best 8mp shooters. This isn't bad news, because more megapixels mean more noise and less light. Unless ofcourse you use better technology like exmor RS. So even in good lighting conditions the exmor rs is doing it's job.
If you look at the comparison tool between de galaxy S3 and the xperia Z with low light video, you will notice the sail of the windmill is not as smeared out on the Z as on the S3. Sure the S3 has a brighter image, but the sail is smeared out. I think the settings are different of the devices. This video proves the low light performance of the xperia z is very good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el85dQDDSrY
I'm not saying the pictures couldn't be better, the driver and software can still be finetuned. If you compare the S3 with the Z on gsmarena with the color poster, you will notice that the picture taken with the S3 is a bit sharper. So yes, sony uses too much noise reduction or maby something else that reduces the sharpness. It can still improve.
The camera isn't bad at all, exmor rs is doing it's job as you can see in the youtube video i gave. At around 58 seconds you can see how much more detail you get. Ignore the purple hue, the owner thought hdr would work well in night scenes. When hdr is turned off the sky is much more black.

What else do you use your phone camera for?
Something that is nice about Sony's camera on the Xperia Z is that the lighting is very good. Shots taken at night simply look a lot brighter on the Xperia Z than what the competition is capable of. Automatic enabling of HDR when there is a strong backlight on photos is nice too.
