@utheta: Who you vote for? Just joking. Seriously I'm not looking at any particular phone it definitely will be 3G but won't be on Vodacom if they continue along their Vodafone live path. By next March my mind should be made up ... Thinking of Sakura might even be a Nokia.

By next March the dust would've settled on all this 3G excitement.
3G phones will go the same way as all other consumer electronics, they start out being expensive but become cheaper with time...just think DVD players and now even DVD recorders(with built-in tv tuner) which have dropped in price to about R3000 for a good one.

@Tahir: All nerds in the future will be able to hack all phones with DRM.
Even Apple's iTunes DRM has been hacked

MR BRIX
the prices of electronics dropped world wide and our stronger rand kinda helped... eg plasma screen 3 yrs ago sold for 70 000 now its 20 000. but any way phone prices will increase although its dropped a bit they will be more expensive like the sharp 902!!!!

@Kabir: As technology becomes entrenched in the market it becomes cheaper. Ever heard of critical mass? About a month ago Tahir mentioned prices of 3G phones like the V800 and your beloved 902, within 6 months their prices will drop and that's got nothing to do with Rand strenght. Good example is my precious...in September when it was launched it sold for about R4000 ...now you can get it on Voda for R2099...the Moto V3 has also dropped in price but at a slower rate, it's much cheaper now than it was in Nov

mr brix
apart from electronics
UNLESS you can get the cost prices of phones(the price voda pays) and the bussiness strategies in which the price of handsets are sold/given away.......
then you should NOT comment my friend, what you read in the papers are not the prices of the phones...IT DOESNT SHOW the support voda gives, OR its their marketing strategies...
eg a moto v3 the price hasnt dropped dramaticly yet its on offer on weekend...
the prices dont drop!!! its the SP's way of getting rid of them therefore some phones might not drop depending on the public demand for the phone.... and if they dont sell they are discontinued ie nokia 7610!!!

LOL@Kabir...if something goes from R4000 to R2099 then what do you call that? Stop arguing and just admit that phone prices drop...and I don't think networks necessarily give them away( it's more likely for contract subs). Your V800 will drop in price come September.. And no, I'm not your friend.
