Shit, the MACboys are apassionate bunch of,dare I say 'idiots' when it comes to the world of mobile phones.Theres already OS X vs S60/UIQ3 discussions floating around with serious bashing of the latter two platforms.Only time will tell what OS X's potential is and if SE and Nokia need to be concerned or not.

@ HOBBS,
Eish boet, I have been working like mad lately. I've finally got some time to myself now to 'esato' and then I'm gonna just chill with the mrs.
The flood of deadlines and amount of work/ expectations become OTT at times and then the word 'gatvol' rolls off the tongue with relative ease...
Part of the problem is the many responsibilities I have, and the paperwork and organisation that each demands.
Just over 2 weeks left and then it's holidays...and a royal 'up yours' to all the work pressures.
Oh well, we got the Year 6 exam results back and the pupils have managed to better most of the targets, so the head is happy and taking the teaching staff concerned out for a fully-paid meal in the swanky Canary Wharf building next Friday night as a 'thank you'.
I can see the mrs and I touring parts of Scotland twice during the holiday. The in-laws have seen much of England and Wales with us, but squat of The Land of Haggis and Black Pudding. Then I have very good friends of ours over shortly after that and guess where they also want to tour...
At least the mrs and I have the last week of the holidays to ourselves...and I'm going to be a frot, lazy wanqa that week. A kind of a 'quiet before the storm' before the new academic year starts in earnest at the beginning of September.
@ da brixsta,
Glad you got your new plek sorted out.
Right, now I'm gonna go grab the Frangelico, pour 2 tot glasses and chill in front of the box.

Ya, asif they've all got developer credentials in all 3 platforms to make such 'informed' judgments. Unfortunately there'll always be platform fanboy cretins in each of the OS camps.
Let the Dogmatic & Opinionated Operating System Sluts (DOOSS) wars commence...

@ hobbs, maybe you should get an external HDD for backup. One that uses USB & network. But just as a backup. You will need to replace that HDD asap just to be safe. Better than having to fork out 2k for data recovery. That is if you don't already back up on dvd.
@ wanqa, the holls sounds so cool. I would like to travel UK sometime, and a bit of Europe, but don't know when I would be able to do that. Talking about school, got a friend who is in school in the UK, met her through my pal Jim. She is done now, and happy about it. Also working now, catering. Working at the F1 this weekend and she is so excited about it. But yeah, I know what hectic work that will be.
Been at war on our online game. Been bloody, lots of backstabbing happened, and we tried to have our revenge. Online gaming is fun, but jinne, what a waste!

TGIF.
Good morning y'all.
@ Francois,
Ya, I really want to tour Europe in the years ahead, particularly the countries around the Alps, and preferably by motorbike and just stop over where and when we like.
Next month, after all the procedures, we finally go for our UK citizenship ceremony and swear at.. er I mean to the queen, and then sing God Save The Queen wiv maai Souf Efrikan accent. After that we can apply for our UK/ EU passports. No more Schengen Visa poefie, or being treated like some third-rate citizen at some embassies when applying for travelling virtually anywhere, or being cross-examined when they see the mere mention of anything to do with 'Africa.'
Try getting easy life insurance quotes here, when they see you're from sub-Saharan Africa and TB, AIDS et al alarm bells start ringing with these insurance firms. They end up checking all your medical records and report from your doctor, swabs put in your mouth and sent off to labs to check there's no HIV, etc etc.
I made sure that my SA citizenship will also remain; there's paperwork for this that we had to do beforehand, so dual citizenship is sorted.
After all, I remain proudly South African.

Hmmm, are some of the hacking fraternity trying to justify their skills for a 'Robin Hood' kind of cause...?
Taken from
www.theregister.co.uk :
iPhone hack project aims to open up device
Unlocked and loaded
Efforts to open up the functionality of Apple's iPhone to users disinclined to sign up to expensive two year contracts with AT&T are growing.
Following the publication of a technique to get the iPod and Wi-Fi features of the device working without signing up to AT&T by reverse engineer DVD Jon, a new group has picked up the baton.
The iPhone Development Project claims to have developed software to activate the device without an AT&T account, or to re-activate the kit after an AT&T account has been cancelled.
The project has set out a list of further goals including the ability to unlock the phone, run third party applications on the device, and eventually enable disk mode. These aims go well beyond what's already been achieved. Further objectives may be added as the project progresses.
Last year, the US copyright office ruled that it was legal for consumers to unlock their mobile phones in order to use them with other carriers, a decision AT&T and Apple may seek to contest, but one which gives hackers some leeway in opening up the functionality of the iPhone. That's not to say fiddling around with the software on the iPhone is without its risk, most notably invalidating any guarantees, as the hackers behind the iPhone Development Project note.
"This website is dedicated to finding additional uses for the iPhone by (legitimately) enabling its potential capabilities, and is a place for the community to share ideas, discoveries, and solutions. It is for informational purposes only. The iPhone Dev Wiki is not responsible if you void your warranty or damage your device," it said.'
@ HOBBS,
Thanks boet. Have a bril one yourself. Let's hope the Bokke 'B's' somehow cause an upset of titanic proportions tomorrow, even if it doesn't seem likely.
Oz will also be keen to 'emphasise' that this isn't the best Bok team and go all out to decimate SA; let's hope the Bokke playing silence some critics.
