the ultra does not have that problem. we were so proud about that xz ultra comparison against the htc one but looks like we're going back to the way things were before. that's really an unacceptable washing out. it's a very slight angle.

A guy in a swedish forum with insider information also menrioned not to have too high hopes with camera initially. It was also mentioned something regarding legal issues with the algorithm.

Yep. The camera will see a big jump in quality in the near future with the final camera firmware.
Can anyone shed some light on this "legal issue"? Is Sony somehow obliged not to use better algorithm until xx date (due to some agreements perhaps)? And when can we expect BIONZ full potential implemented?
Cheers,
Miki

I do not know the exact details but it has something to do with Google. Sony had to rewrite the Android Camera code from scratch for the Z1 final camera firmware. So probably a legal issue with Google is what caused the delay.

Was ZU's display was already vibrant when it first came out? Or an update on X-Engine pumped it up?

Z1 has been priced today in Croatia - 800€ with VAT included. Kinda a lot but I'll be getting it for half of that due to my contract with T mobile.

Really?

hopefully this doesn't slow down the updates on the Z1.

My information might not be reliable but it'll get 4k 60fps soon.
