how long does it normally take for the phone to be launched as a pay as you go, or sim free?

It depends on how expensive the handset is, and the type of market it is aimed at.

For example, a phone like the K300 went straight to PAYG because its not very high spec, and aimed at the youth market.

The K750i is a much higher spec, and aimed at generally the masses. It might take 3 months or even 6 before it appears on PAYG.

I'm sure everyone has at one time updated thier phone only to find that they liked thier old phone better. I'm speculating that the K750 may be one of those phones.

Yeah. done that when the Samsung D500 came out, gave my K700 to my 12 yr old son, soon realised the d500 was pants........would he swop it for the k700, NO !
Just sold the d500 today, £100 , will try and get a k750i tomorrow maybe on a low tariff (got 2 contracts already) or wait till PAYG comes out.
After tring the d500, I realised how good SE phones are, back to using my old P900 for now. Annoying thing is tho,the D500 connected to my HBH-35 bluetooth headset everytime, but my p900 is a pain in the ass, hope the k750i is better.

I am guessing here but I think that very soon someone on ebay will be selling a w800 cover that will fit the k750i. The d750i is the same button configurations and the w800 so it looks like an easy switch so all us k750i owners can, if we want have what looks like a w800i for less cash.

nice.
