Got a G900 a few days ago and have the following comments to make.

The phone is not slow at all and I have been using SE phones or years with the G900 my first smart phone. It is running on the latest customised UK software (R9L004).I am however disappointed with a few things.

1.There are no profiles! They have been on every other SE phone i have had for the last 8 years.

2. The alarm doesnt work when the phone is off. Again something that has always been present on non-smart SE phones. I use this as a wake up alarm as i travel a lot. This combined with the lack of profiles i would have to leave the phone on all night but have to change silent mode to non vibrating and back every day.

3. When I change themes why do the sound and alerts change? Seems stupid as one is listed under display and the other under sounds and alerts. Is this normal?

4. The set up wizard states holding the back button whilst in an application will close it but on my phone it doesnt. I need to open task manager and manually close all the apps. Is there a fault with my phone?

5. I am on O2 but my phone never seems to want to connect to 3G at home or in work but if i pop the same sim card in an old Nokia 6230 it connects to the web via 3G immediately. I have called O2 and CPW but they are saying call the other! Is there any setting i need to change?

6. What does the transitions option do? As i havent noticed any difference with it in or off.

Can someone comment on the above points to tell me if this is normal as i still have time to return my phone for a replacement.

Cheers

Hello, i noticed exactly the sames thing as you !!

For the transition, switch it in ON/OFF and look the shadow of the menu icons, when you move. The move is simple when the transition is OFF.

Thanks for the replies.

I found the profies and alarms (whilst off) very useful. Going into meetings i would set it up to vibrate. Once over switch to normal (low volume). At night at home i would sometimes leave it on all night but in silent with no vibrate. Whilst out and about would have it on loud ring with vibrate. I had the profiles as shortcut on my w810i. It is something that has always been on SE phones and took it for granted and didnt even think that it wouldnt be a feature. i thought all mobiles these days had this feature. Two recent work phones Samsung and nokia also had this feature too.

Is there UIQ3 app that will allow quick profile switching? I got one years back for an XDA and have heard there is an app available for UIQ2 devices.

Oh one other thing i forgot. Can someone confirm there is no manual adjustment of the equaliser as on previous phones? Would installing another verison of Wlakman player rectify this?

Never mind, I found the section in the settings where I can turn on the prompt when I start the phone.
