On PC I get speed above 80kbps. But the speed drops to 50-60kbps in day time as the network traffic will be high.

It connects at 921.6kbps

What speed yours getting on PC ? http://www.zdnetindia.com/reviews/isp/rateisp/popspeed.html

check the let me know. check 3 or 4 times so that u can make out the difference. Try during night, morning, afternoon & evening.

This query is for all here: What is the maximum speed you got till date?

hey i posting my sppeds with this link with edge enabled 6630-----
Peak hours(4 'o clock)----- ----------------58kbps(7.2kBps)
Moderate hours(9'o clock)-----------------65 kbps(8.1kBps)
non peak hours(12'o clock midnight)-----69kbps(8.6kBps)

Alan "Please don't use any filesharing softwares such as LimeWire etc... they(Air) will come to know bcoz it uses different ports"

I agree with Alan, It uses different ports. I used to use limewire a lot when I had cable connection, immediately after one month of use, my ISP had blocked. Now no one can use that software on this ISP server. They can easily make out such softwares.

So I request all... please dont try these software's on our connection. Our connection is Good for light user's.

hey u again quoted the same in long words!!
Actually what i wann know is HOW LIMEWIRE USES DIFFERENT PROXY PORTS WHEN ONLY 8080 IS AVAILABLE FOR CONNNECTION
& HOW AIRTEL PEOPLE KNOW THAT DIFFERENT PORTS R USED BY LIMEWIRE, IF SO ????????

HEY ALAN DO U KNOW ???

You might be knowing that the whole airtel live GPRS is managed by a Proxy server which located on the 100.1.200.99 gateway. The port 8080 is just a connecting port. You can use any port(if it's not blocked in proxy) along with http protocol using the "http://www.webaddress.com:port-number" format. Usually all webservers serve websites using port number 80. SSL uses 443. But all these protocols work even though we used 8080 port in connection settings.

Almost all proxy servers give a special functionality known as "Logs" which records all the web addresses, port requests served by the proxy. So if the Airtel people open these logs, they can see the port numbers. In WAP, people normally use port 80 or 443. So if they find other ports, then they can easily find that the connection is being used for other works.

Even Yahoo! uses other protocol named SHTTP when entering into the chatrooms. Thats why in some regions, Yahoo Messenger doesn't work. LimeWire has it's own specific ports.

That's why I'm requesting you all, don't misuse this precious Free Internet Resource.

Please don't post any GPRS unrelated matters in this thread. You may be knowing that this thread has become very big. If this continues, newbies will struggle to find the info they want.

Thanks

@stayback my cable isp also blocks limewire, but now I'm able to download files from limewire thanks to mobile office. What i do is first i connect to mobile office and start up limewire, it will get connected. Next is to search files and then add them to your download. Once u add them, let it search for sources. Next disconnect from mobile office and then connect to your cable isp. Though you will not connect to limewire, you will be connected to ur sources and you will be able to download the file at the speed provided by your cable isp .

edit: sorry for being out of topic, but i hope this helps ppl who can't connect to limewire. I have not tried this using airtel live.
