The smaller hole opposite the headphone jack at the top looks like a noise cancelling mic. the larger hole at the bottom is very interesting and would seem to be a bit large for a lanyard and mic.

The top hole I agree is probably a mic, but isn't common now to have triple mic noise cancellation? or even stereo mic recording?
The reason I suggested hole at the bottom is laynyard is that the lanyard slot on the Z3 is massive. Easily the size of the loud speaker grille on the Z.
I doubt it would be stylus, it would be very awkward to remove for use and when inserted would go through some key electronics.
Loud speaker I also doubt because I don't think they will go away from the dual front-facing setup they have now.
Lanyard and/or mic are the final options. Unless it is a really awkwardly positioned IR blaster.
