Use high quality instead, very high can cause problems on some movies.

I installed the newest M3 v0.860 via auto update. Thats very cool.
But I'm not able to change the codec from XVID mpeg4 into x286 or something like that, is this a bug ?

you can only use x264 on the k610, k790, and k800. If your phone doesn't support it, you can't use it, because it wouldn't play on your phone.

Does the x264 codec give better quality or does it decrease filesizes? Should us K800 users use that instead?
Also, I can't click the browse button to browse for the subtitle to include. Why is this? Just noticed the "problem" is still there in the 0.862 version.
Btw. what is fixed in 0.862? The changelog wasn't change so...

0.86.2 included a missing file for GPU filtering, and fixed a small problem with vob files. But i still wouldn't recommend using M3 for vobs yet.
x264 should only really be used if you want to save space. It's limited to 176x144 resolution, and is only for the k800/k790/k610, so it won't provide as much detail as xvid. That's because the phones can't play 320x240 h.264 video.
The subtitle button is greyed out because you haven't selected a file from the list. You can't add the same subtitle to all files, you have to select the file you want the subtitles for.
After you select a file in the list, tick the "Add Subtitles" box, and then browse button will enable. Then point it to your sub/srt file for that video.

A new problem
If I convert a file with the GPU dx9 filter I get in the upper right corner some lines, looks like artefacts or something like that. I have a X850XT-PE gfx.
Is the quality better with the GPU Filtering ?

Thanks for a great program mysh! The problems I had before are gone in the newest version. Three small questions though:
Can you make the program to keep the previously set output folder after an update? I don't want to use "my mobile media" and now I have to set the folder after every update.
What about 2-pass video? Does it make the quality much better at the same bitrate, just longer conversion?
What's the difference between the audio codecs?

hi,
masterv, there's a bug in the GPU filter for ATi cards, a fixed version will be in the next version of M3 though.
lleoman, i'll look into restoring previous preferences after an update.
2-pass can save you some file size, maybe 10 to 30% depending on the kind of video, and the max % setting. if max is 100% you'll save a lot, but video will look worse. 115% will save you some file size, and look about as good as 1-pass. 130% will save you a tiny amount of file size, but it'll look at least as good as 1-pass.
i'm not going to explain the differences between audio codecs again.

You can find information in the last few pages of this thread...
http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=37
or you can search for each codec at
www.wikipedia.org
Once i write the help files for M3, there'll be a full description of the codecs included with the program. Right now i'm still adding features though.
