yup i got that message as well, and i thought one thing, that Windows Vista simply do not allow SEUS to access the Java VM, so you need to give SEUS Admin rights as a program when you run it...

go to C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service or wherever you installed it and right click on Update Service.exe, select Properties and click on the Compatibility tab and tick the "Run in a compatibility mode: For Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Then further down, you also need to tick the "Run this program as an administrator" from the Priviledge Level section. Finally, to run SEUS, do a right click on the program and select "Run as admin".

It should work fine now. However, i had to unistall my flash player and install it again as it wouldnt recognise it. Everything worked well afterwards. You will notice that Vista will disable Aero for as long as you run SEUS.

I backed up, upgraded and restored my P990i earlier today. I genuinely think it's running faster now.

I haven't installed Tweak Peaks yet, although I may try it out for the weekend to see how it enhances the usage of the phone.

Thanks for the tips about Vista, I'll try and update my g/f's phone tomorrow if I get a chance.

Hi Sorry,
To butt in here but can someone confirm it really takes approx 1minute to boot up? to being usable. As with the latest upgrade i was actually considering trying a P990 out but find this alarming, also how long does it take for Calendar or messages to open once clicked on? your help and views would be greatly appreciated.

Marc

Why Dogmann I sense you are slipping back to the Dark Side....

From the first vibration indicating power on to the screen asking phone / flight mode about 45 seconds (I think we should be timing this), the operator logo appears in about 1 minute 8 seconds (but this depends on how fast you respond to phone/flight mode and PIN screens). Initial RAM 15.2 MB (SM Pro not running), after a level 3 reclaim using SM Pro 17.9 MB (as shown by SM Pro), system status reports available RAM at 16.4 MB. I don't really know why there is this discrepancy between SM Pro and system info.

And how about we have all one standard for this:

NO flight mode (uncheck ask!)
NO PIN

this way all that try to measure the time will have the same basics.

Then we have a clear time from pushing the button to operator logo.

By the way, anybody knows if the phone COMPRESSES the contact phone book? Because sometimes when adding a contact a quick message pops up, compressing...

The time it takes for the operator logo to show up is not constant, I believe it depends on how busy the particular exchange is at that specific time.
