live photos, nice. looks like SE has moved away from the perpetually malfunctioning joystick. good and bad, i don't know. personally i think joysticks allow for faster scrolling through menus. but i've never really had much problem with mine so...

back on topic. looking at the k770's keypad, they look rather cheap and plasticky, especially when illuminated. i can easily predict problems of the silver finish wearing out early. they look too glossy too, so no soft-touch. a bit of a problem for intuitive texters i imagine.

overall this is going to be a budget phone, and the quality of the materials show. can't tell really from pictures, but they look cheap and plastic. it looks like phones from year back, when premium material hasn't made their way into phones.

Nice but the T650 is much more stylish in my view.

And K800/K810 etc have a larger screen so I think this phone is not a competitor to the K800 series

MAN, what on earth are you talking about? plasticky!!!! do they really look plasticky to you???
gosh, man look at the side of the phone, look at the mocha colored pictures, the scream (quality materials) all the way.....

even the violet colored handset, in live pictures, looks shockingly neat !!

Well this is not offical, but I'm not surprised if Sony Ericsson diecides to add different colours to the phone, like all of you want black, white, and silver (me too =D). They have been doing that recently: W580, added a black-orange colour alternative, and S500i, white and purple. But I doubt they will release the S500i ones =(

in my opinion, the k770 is a nice addition to SE's Product range.... but still, it doesn't justify the color change to purple (i have to admit that "turd brown" would be a nice color phone... but "gay disco purple"??

i would like it that SE could give us a broader color range for a change..(like all of those s500 prototypes in fact) or that they would include at least a black and silver edition (as we were accustomed to with the cybershot series)

@bo

of cos' that's my personal opinion, but i think it should be rather obvious. you can see from the purple one that the keys are just plastic painted over silver. reminds me somehow of one of the nokia fashion models, the one with weirdly arranged keys. premium materials?

and the main body of the phone is similar, it's just painted over and seems like cheap plastic beneath. compare with say, k800i's finish? again, premium materials?

there's nothing wrong with the materials used, in fact in contributes to the phone's lightness. but bear in mind, this is a budget handset a complete rung below the k850. this is to k850 what k550 is to k800.

may i remind you, even SE is not claiming premium materials for this phone. it's just normal plastic, so don't go about your fanboyish stance there.

assuming you are mistaking quality for premium. it's normal, at best.

update: if you look closely at the brown version, you might noticed that the chassis below the lens cover is scratched and has already exposed (!) the cheapish clear-white plastic below. i rest my case.

(whether this is a manufacturing defect or not is another story, yeah? so don't come calling about 'prototype' model and ect., thanks)

The back cover is reminds me of Sony's U-series Cybershot cameras without optical zoom and the front profile is like K220
