Absolutely. It's a godsend.
Much like the quick reply function for SMS's, now that is suuuch a simple idea and it's really really effective

If Apple add the option to write SMS with the horizontal keypad that would be awesome...

Twitterfon is comprehensive and free, or Tweetie if you don't mind paying for a bit more quality. Twitterific is the other big free one, looks nice but a bit limited (and it carries ads).
