reghardware posted their
review of the N8 today. Their conclusion:
The N8 is the proverbial curate's egg. It offers very capable hardware with real benefits, particularly for imaging, and wraps it in a rough UI. Indeed, it retains much of the cruftiness of the Symbian S60 5th Edition interface, which feels clumsy and, in today's market, unnecessarily complicated. Yet the market has moved on in terms of user experience and applications choice. So whether this phone is for you depends on how much you value its features, against how much you can put up with the UI.
This worries me. Any former iPhone users out there that have switched to the N8 - and are happy with the change?

Theres quite a few mistakes in that review, obviously the person reviewing the handset isnt all that familiar with it as they should be. They says unecessarily complicated. I call it normal when comparing it to basic phones running Android or iOS that lack functions Symbian have used for years.
The best bit imo is when they say "three piece aluminium design", when N8 owners know the main body is aluminium, the two end caps are simply plastic to allow good radio communication. Nokia clearly avoiding the troubles of Apple's silly antenna.

Nokia has always put plastic parts on an all metal phone where the antenna is. It's common sense to do so. Samsung does this too but not Apple

^^^ The metallic parts on the iPhone is not covering the antenna. The metall *is* the antenna - actually two different antennas which when shorted by a finger causes reception problems due to antenna shape and size not being correct for GSM/3G frequencies. Amazingly odd mistake for Apple to miss (or ignore depending on who you're supposed to believe).
. . .
I have been very happy with the iPhone (3GS) and am very sensitive to bad reviews on other alternatives after having been burnt after trying E72 and N900. Looks like the N8 will not be the replacement for my iPhone after all.
The words about Symbian^3 vs Symbian^4 in reghardware's review are also unsettling after having bought an N900 and then seeing the announcement that Nokia dropping Maemo.

I tried the N8 before I bought my iPhone4. I find the N8 slow, boring and outdated. The UI on the i4 is for me a totally different experience
Easier and much faster

@ AbuBasim - the sad truth is that we now live in a world where Apple's simple and shallow interface seems better because of its faster and slicker experience.
Unfortunately, many people including those reviewing phones become so in love with it that they forget just how powerful other operating systems are such as Symbian or Android. That review is full of ignorance imo, i can counteract almost every negative opinion they have against the N8. Sadly, people are becoming more ignorant than ever thanks to Apple and their simple OS.

Having had the iphone 4 which was my first iphone, after having many call issues with it I actually don't miss the iphone now. I actually found it has alot of limitations in terms of things to do on it. I was quite often bored on the iphone with not many things to really do or play with. I think the Desire HD is going to be my next purchase.

But.. thats.. Android !! I thought you had major gripes with Android ?
You've hit the nail on the head. No matter how much i try to tell people why i prefer Symbian over Apple they just do not understand what you and i both mean. Its SOOOOOOO limited compared to Symbian. Everytime i pick up an iPhone and play around with it im the same, bored within minutes. I dont do novelty apps, i dont do mobile gaming. Therefore the iPhone isnt something that captures me. Such little details in the interface which let me customise how i make calls, use internet access or even the lack of proper 3g video calling in a phone so expensive is like releasing a car, selling it for £40k but not actually giving it a steering wheel.
I dont want to start a Symbian vs Apple vs Android debate so please, nobody jump on my case, but like AbuBasim asked, how many people are now switching from Apple to Symbian or another OS for the same reasons as me and you Bonovox ? Of course i never actually switched, i prefer to try each OS prior to jumping ship and found myself wanting more with anything but Symbian.

Well,I do have some little gripes with Android but I think so far I have just not found the best perfect Android device. So far I have had the Galaxy S,LG Optimus X10 & X10 Mini & now X8. X8 is very good so far I like it. I am waiting to get the Desire HD soon just need to hear more about it first. I want to find the perfect device for me especially for browsing I have been all over the place trying to find what's right for me. I have come to the conclusion it's not iphone. Android I have given another go but before spending more big money I need to make a right decision & get it right this time. I am fussy yes but I will settle soon

Android is your best bet if you want a fantastic browsing experience.
Best would be to get the DesireHD or any other high-end android as they offer:
The large hi-res displays
CPU/RAM to handle huge sites simultaneously
The Android browser and Dolphin Browser HD are on a league of their own. I dumped Opera Mini, UCWeb etc...as they just dont come close to those to browsers.
