The Main Reference In Image And Video
Yes, I see it as a milestone for phone photography and video capture.. and a lot of people out there share my opinion. Take a look at this:

Nikon D800e
Nokia 808
I tested the sound recording today... ya, its amazing.. as advertised

Yeah And I Saw The Video Very Interesting !
However, The Nokia In Brazil, Sells Very Well !
And That Bothers Many People
(*Cough* SAMSUNG *Cough*) !
Hence The Attempt To Boycott The Company And Bring Prejudice !
But I Think It Will Not Give Anything At All !!!
What I Hope Is In Fact The Official Launch Of 808 Pureview Here And Of Course More Inviting With a Price !
€ 810 (R$ 1999)... Is Too Much Money On a Phone, Even If This Phone Is The Best Multimedia Smartphone In History !!!
P.S: NOKIA For God's Sake... Lower The Price Of 808 PUREVIEW !!!

I really don't understand the interest of this phone (i'm very serious here no jokes)
People who like/love this symbian phone have you ever used a high end android phone or even a iphone ?
I have this 808 i tested a bit and i don't want to keep it at all. In term of speed fluidity, user interface/experience, apps, this can't match with others hight end phones such as android.
The screen is good for colours and contrast but the resolution is poor and it becomes pink (i'm serious) when it bright high (impossible to turn of the light sensor). With this screen it's not what i'm calling "the best multimedia smartphone in history"
For the most common functions the phone is fast enough, but for others things it's another hystory, the web browser is not good, it's laggy, too slow, interface is not terrible, same thing for the keyboard. Facebook via social is a nightmare ! The phone makes you feel like you use a old phone And so on...
Of course the still camera and camcorder...i don't like it because it maybe takes good quality pictures but in auto mode or creative mode/pure view without some settings you get "trivial" pics, looks too whashed out. In my opinion the auto mode is important for a camera phone, settings is a bonus. Anyway Macro mode is unable to take pics less than 20 centimeters, the night mode not good (very grainy pics). In brief you must sets custom settings for different kind of scenes and playing with saturation, contrast, sharpeness all the time if you want very nice pictures. The zoom is nice until 8mp not in 2mp and it's never like a optical zoom. The vidéo recording is good and xénon flash too.
This phone will not probably never a big hit with symbian and its price if you compare with Xperia S, HTC One x, GS3, iphone 4S and a lot of cheaper phones.
For me this phone is a total nonsense...except for geeks who doesn't care about all these considerations !
PEACE !
@ cu015170 continue to make very nice pics of california or other places it's very pleasing.
@ Guarulhos you know what ? Maybe your future 808 is the best on a planet, abyss stuff (and things like that) but my Galaxy S3 is the best of the GALAXY !!! That's make a BIG difference !

I've had an Moto atrix 4g and a iphone 4 for a while.. I really don't care about apps and games. I would take the 808s imaging capabilities/audio recording instead of an app or a game any day of the week.
I use my phone for work (email, phone calls, sms,GPS. office, etc.) and for fun I take photos, watch video, read books, listen to music. Also, I go to a lot of concerts, and the 808 is perfect for that.. overall its perfect for recording memories
Also quite handy during travel..
The hype and the talk are based on the fact that some people don't care about 100k apps/games, but care about what they can create with their phone, no just consume, different people, different priorities/needs. Also, the phone offers a more complete imaging packet, which is appealing to a lot of people..
The 808 works great for me, but its not for everybody, just like any other smartphone out there. I will probably keep it as long as I kept my N8.
Its a converged device..

Ive got Nokia 808, Nokia N8, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S.... iPhone 4 is a junk...nothing to be proud of that thing aside from its logo... so i often have the 4s and and 808 in my pockets... and for the record, i often use the 808 more than the 4s. Yes the 4s is fluid but the 808 has a lot more uses.

^ when I had the iphone 4 and N8, i found that I use the N8 way more, so I got rid of the iPhone 4.. it all depends on your needs.

1/180th @ 100iso (this is from Nokia's white paper, I don't know if its maximum)
this one is showing 1/130:

this one 1/121:

i don't know what it would do in "sport" mode, i will test it out when I get a chance.
down to ~2,7 secs @ 50iso with ND filter turned on.
I printed a fully zoomed image from the phone, results:
original

well I saw some night shots in photo section with 2.7 sec shutter speed, so I hoped it kinda could be even longer, but it is huge improvement comparing to N8 which had 1/8 max shutter speed if i am correct. When you have time do some 2.7/ISO400 shots/ND off (if this setup is possible) so we can see low light quality.
I must admit that I am amased with detail acquiring that 808 does.
In some future firmware update they should allow RAW saving.
Currently 808 is a bit pricey, but at the other hand you get near DSLR photo quality and very capable full HD camera(with exceptional sound)
edit: btw, is it possible maybe to use headset as remote controler?
