After spending a few hours with the X Compact I do think the XZ will be the first smartphone to get a score of 90 at DXOmark. The way the phone can switch focus is beyond rapid and the new stabilisation sets a new standard for all others to play catch up. Image quality will be better than the X, probably not by much but I think the camera on the X is the best Sony has put in their phone to date and the selfie camera is easily the best on flagship that doesn't have a front facing flash.

i'm sure the xz could produce great photos... it's just that superior auto isn't actually "superior.."

in manual mode, with the right settings, even my Z1 can produce stunning photos. with manual controls on the xz, i'm sure you could take some great photos. it's just a shame that auto mode can't produce those stunning results in whatever conditions it senses.

UPDATE: just preordered from clove can't wait!!!! i hope stock comes in sooner rather than later.

The only way Sony can reduce noise is by using a 12mp camera with ois. I rarely shoot in dark scenes so it's not a problem for me. If I really want to shoot in low light and get great results I should get the Sony a7s instead and not a smartphone

The superior auto has always been shit in low light conditions. I can take far less grainy shots even with the Xperia Z3 of mine in "manual" mode.

They actually say very good things. Except for the image quality. But I think we all sorts agree with that. It could be better but it's by no means bad. It's just a shame they can't make it as amazing as their actual cameras.

Now.. Which color.... I can't decide!

Update... OK I decided. Flipped a coin and blue won!

I would love to see 15mpx or 8mpx shots.

Well... once I got XZ in my hand I will try manual mode maybe in the night scene to see it true quality then...

ah to kurtdean... I don't want to bashing on XZ but just want to let you know that other smartphone can do much better job on low light shot... at least better noise reduction...
