Bonc,
if this is bo**ocks then why did Carphone Warehouse swap my charger out "incase it exploded" - their words not mine.
I just asked them if there was a recall on chargers for T610's,
they told me the explosion bit.

regards,

Kerwin.

Vlam, forgot u need 2pin 220V adaptors - shame as lots of 3pin 240V ones will be going begging tomorrow! (my charging, as ever, finished uneventfully)

Hopefully the problem is limited to UK users, although alias did say "This is because customers worldwide are experiencing their chargers blowing up while the phone is being charged"

@BonC this is not b*ll*cks, just blown up out of proportion

I think the only way to deal with this and sort it out once and for all is if you have an affected charger (Made it Thailand by Delta) that was purchased recently, please get in touch with the shop you got the phone from and ask them if there is a recall on the chargers, if so ask what the problem is.

Then post your answers here for everyone to see.

Carphone Warehouse, 164-172 Union Street, Aberdeen, Scotland
08701 682 361
3 day old cahrger for T610 (Made it Thailand by Delta) changed due to possibility of explosion 5/9/2003

Kerwin.

Yup, Alias, if you are still around, I think you were right

p.s. I am with O2, so it's not just Orange.

Still seems to be an official denial from S.E.

Anyone had anything 'officially' apart from my experience???

regards,

Kerwin.

Earlier today, alias started a new thread (in the general forum I think) saying there would be an official press release ... but so far nothing. This message was posted from a Nokia

Good luck Bonc,
wear rubber shoes!

On a serious note, I was quite suprised at the reaction of the Carphone Warehouse assistant when I asked if there was any truth to the rumour that I had heard about a charger recall on T610's.

She said that they had just got an email 10 minutes before,
I asked what the fault was, she said that the charger could blow up and injure people, exposing wires (pointing to the bit where the cable enters the charger)

She asked if she could see my charger, looked at the writing on it and said 'yes, this could be affected'.

She went to the store room, put my 'faulty' charger in a box (which looked to have another 10 or so chargers in it, some still in their packaging) and gave me back a brand new charger.

regards,

Kerwin.
