I agree its a familiar codec - but
its only familiar to those that are into watching illegal pirated movies, wether you convert yourselves from DVD's or download from the internet or peer to peer networking. Xvid is not a standard codec on any OS.
It was developed from DivX with the sole purpose of minimizing filesizes for illegal distribution over the internet - and those not into these matters would most likely not know anything about xvid.
Therefore Id think in this case it would server the purpose better to convert to a wmv format which is standard on every newer windowsbased installation.
