What I need is....
Easy texting
Check! Itap is as far as i can see as good as T9 and i haven´t had any problems texting on the phone.
A decent camera and screen Check! Camera is indeed decent, and screen is right up there among the best i´ve seen!
Good loud ringtone volume and decent vibrate
Alarm Check! No problem hearing it in restaurant at lunch time and vibra strong enough to draw everyones attention at meeting when vibrating on table.. *oops*

Anything else would be nice but they are my essentials. Not even particularly bothered about mp3 as most of the time I have it on vibrate anyway.

Will have to have a feel in the Carphone Warehouse (spit) on the way home!

The V3 from CPW is unbranded and untouched by Vodagroan - purely a generic handset.

Hii sorry if you guys have seen the queries on another forum but haven't had much joy elsewhere, but..

1) With any "flip open to answer" ( or whatever it's called) set to yes... How do I reject a call without opening the flip( and thus answering the call)

2) How do I delete " Voicemail" from speedail setting number 1 ( not just the number, but the " dialing voicemail" llegend.

3) When in a call, with call waiting switched on -how do I put the first caller on hold and take the second caller?

5) How can I get my phone to play " hello Moto" when turning it on, WITHOUT changing my themes, and other ring tones, alerts etc?

6) what is quick dial used for? it seems to only have 3 possible entries, and only stores tel numbers not names ?

7) Is it possible to create a short cut to "phone book categories" ? might be nice with 1 or 2 button pushes to be able to change the phone book search list.

If I'm using the speed dial, and a text message comes in, the speed dial fails, and display reads " call failed" - is this normal

tia...

Alright, finally got one. just made a couple of calls so far, but here are my impressions:

As stated time and again, the build, design, RF, screen and the "oooh" factor are all amazing. Also, the way the front screen acts as a "mirror viewfinder" when you're using the camera with the flip closed is pretty cool, but I guess that was pioneered by the Samsung E700 (or some other phone?).

Camera is pretty decent. Keypad is quite easy to use and quite sexy too.

The battery cover doesnt quite fit so well. The glass on the front display gets smudged very easily. The side buttons i dont like because it takes a little too much effort to depress them, their placement isn't optimal and they're also a bit loose (they jiggle around a few tenths of a millimeter).

Bluetooth so far is decent, when communicating with a Z600. Oh, and this phone is less than half the thickness of the Z600!

The menu's are a bit bizzare. Moto uses strange words, has slightly strange categories and of course there's the famous phonebook. I just feel that the software/OS is a bit lacking for a phone of this class.

But it just looks and feels so good I'll forgive Moto for all the faults, even the sky high sticker price.

(Time to change my profile picture)

Just got my v3 on Thursday on upgrade from CPW, cost me 70 pound to upgrade. Just have to say its a classy phone, sorry meant sexy phone

Anyway.... my main point in posting a reply was to ask if there is a way to keep the bluetooth connection on for longer? As when i'm trying to pair it with my PC (or a phone), the connection cuts out if i havent accessed the phone (say within 15 secs).... is it meant to be like this (trying to save power) or am i too slow at using my BT software?
Also, which software is the best and simplest at cutting parts of mp3's?

Edit: Searched and found Power Mp3 Cutter.... does anyone where to find good backgrounds/wallpapers (i'll check hofo after this post...),which will test the 262k screen?

Thanks for the advice guys! I am now the (very) proud owner of a V3. Have been playing around with it all day and it's great. Ringtones are pretty grim though but I nicked some from my SE T630 and all is well.

BUT, can't seem to send any texts. Entered service centre number same as on old one and can receive ok but no joy getting anything out. Went to the Vodafone website but the phone isn't on there to send settings to.

Any ideas anyone?

This forum is great by the way. Everyone is so helpful. Are any of you Mac people by the way? There's a bit of that community feel going on!

@Gooner Girl
I haven´t messed at all with settings since mine is Voda locked and hence has a Voda SIM, all settings are already pre-configured..
I use the classic ringer.. tell you the truth i am a little tired of all melodies and tunes belting out of everyone´s phones nowadays I tend to go for very unusual mp3:s if i use them at all. My Z1010 had didgeridoo playing as ringer and K700 had sound of police radio connecting
Oh and btw, since i work at IT-department of university i am a Windows/Mac/Linux/Unix/PPC/PalmOS man

OK got mine too

Looks like im the first from the UK on Vodafone. The phone is absolutely unbranded. It comes in the Chrome box and there is no sign of vodaphone whatsoever Phew!

It's on charge so I can't say if it's locked or not....the salesgirl said it is but don't know yet. The startup screen is Hello moto and not welcome to vodafone

Sorted out my texting problem. Would you believe that the problem was that I had entered the service centre number as 0044 rather than +44!

I also am on Vodafone and this phone has no branding whatsoever. It looks beautiful and works wonderfully.

And why is it that as soon as you get a new phone no on whatsoever rings or texts you for at least a week. Just when you want to play around with it all goes quiet. Or is it just me.....?!

I could ring you or text you to test your phone
Nah, but seriously, i just put that new Ja Rule tune (New York, New York) as my ringtone (mp3), and had to wait an whole hour before someone called me
