My K800i was reflashed last week by CPW to R1ED001.
Not sure what the EROM was originally but the version now is R3A016.

When did this EROM "situation" start occuring? I upgraded my phone about 2 weeks ago with WOTAN and I was not presented with the option. My phone came from Finland so maybe it was not necessary but will this affect all phones in the future?

The EROM check and upgrade option was added to the Wotan client 0.9.910 of 2006-09-21, so if you upgraded two weeks ago you may want to reflash just in order to get the EROM upgrade.
Checking this for you now, I see that there is yet another new client available, 0.9.930, and from now on the EROM upgrade is for free.
Latest info on Wotan's available firmware and client is at

n thats the reason for the delay in releasin the f/w?
but what abt u guys who upgraded thru wotan no problems with ur phones rit?
Oh k so the EROM upgrade is now on wotan.
its pretty confusin all this

I agree. It is confusing. Anyway, my EROM is the same as the one posted in the picture and I flashed my phone about two weeks ago. Maybe I got lucky but one thing for sure is that I am not going to bother flashing again. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I have not updated Erom in any way.
My phone works fine.

Ok I beleive the EROM is how the phone handels certain things.
Its a bit like the BIOS on a Computer. Basic Input Out put System.
The firmware R1ED is software that is like Windows XP.
So the EROM can handle how the data in handelled, memory is allocated, processor speed. What euipment can be attached, Power devices and so on.
The Firmware resovles bugs and faults with the software, just like updating your service packs with windows xp.
Its all confusing but its all coming clear.
SE has obiv seen a fault with the EROM with the latest firmware or this is what is causing the problem with the phone not switching on.
I can only think that this is why SEUS has delayed the firmware release of the phones update at the moment. So currenlty i wouldnt expect to see it on there possible for another 2 weeks. I will try to find out today if i can and update the thread.
I have updated a couple of K800i and the first batch didnt have the EROM update and the phones work fine.
I have updated my own last night with the EROM update and again the phone went through fine.
I have compaired both of my K800i one has the old firmware, the other one that has old firmware. I can honestly say that the Camera in the new firmware is so much better, It Focuses more, Faster to take pics, Clearer (Colours look so much better) and saves faster.

Please beware if you flashed your phone when they first released R1ED001 on wontan THEN PLEASE DON'T TURN YOUR PHONE OFF!!It might die!
Shouldn't wontan of warned people about this when they released the firmware?
I agree with the previous post if it aint broke don't fix it!
It's going back to voda for repair when my return pack arrives!Hope i don't get caught with R1ED001 firmware on it.What are the chances of void warranty?
