i have used quantization table from igica's driver to D.M 3.2 and i can see increased detail.

funny thing is that you guys are talking about some kind of constant tables of quantization while Cyber-shots uses variable quantization. these tables do nothing, you can even delete all values from them and guess what... nothing will happen. increased details are placebo effect

did you ever wonder why jpeg size can jump from 2MB to 6MB in modded driver? because you can change settings like quality range and jpeg size range for variable quantization generator. in EXIF you'll find that your pictures vary in quantization and quality. in this case, what's the point of constant table from driver? for me none

Testing my new Night mode (Yes eltoffer, I'll send you a MP about this). Images are resized to 800*600, same night, 3 minutes later, and yes... its the moon, not sun . no color corrections, only JPEG compression tweak for better IQ and iso and shutter speeds.

My next test will be to add a shutter speed mode, maybe replacing WB: auto, hight speed, 1s, 2s, 4s

Date: 2009/09/04 21:22: Iso 200, shutter speed >= 3s. Yes, exif only show 1s

Date: 2009/09/04 21:25: Iso 400, shutter speed 1/10 -> Normal mode

until i set 2s on night mode the camera uses 1s even on DM3.2 try by yourself, i was dealing with exposure time and i gave up, anyway if i had taken that pic on 2s it would be the same image, hope you understand why i say that

mmmm....eltoffer,look at these 2 pics and see what's the difference.
DM 3.2 ISO 100 1s

Eltoffer 3.7 ISO 100 1s

Exif of the 2 pics are the same.But in fact,brightness of two photos is different.

Ok let me explain you what is shutter speed.

it ONLY determine how long the lens or diaphragm will be open and capture everything in this length of time

so in my night pic and yours, shutter speed doesnt matter completly because you wont get a brighter or darker image for a long shutter speed, it is only useful when you have enough light sources to give more exposure to your pic and also the right ISO value like in this example

or to give a moving effect to your pics, again, only it you have enough light sources

thanks

Seems like you'd have to be there to know which has more accurate color. anouk82, which looks more like the real thing?
