@da krypsta: The lapdesk is quite a cool concept but then on the other hand we have communities (in Cape Town) where schools are continuously vandalised by youngsters from those communities.
@Jmash: Already heard that they've started the project in Nigeria...some of the guys from Massachuchetts Institute of Technology were down in SA last year to launch the laptop at a AU/Nepad gathering.

HUH???? i think you are talking about something different ($99laptop??)
I am talking about the new mobile phone from NEC that will run on the linux operating system (proced at about $450 launch date in october)
