Thanks for the nice words mwarner.

Guys Im looking at the thread up until 10.30 gmt time tonight.

I have both k800i next to me, 1 wit the latest EROM and Firmware, one of them still on the old one.

If you want to ask me any questions then please do so.

One thing i will let you all know. After last night an i had done the EROM update and full firmware update, my security code in the phone stayed the same. SE have moved this onto another part of the phones circuit board so it can no longer be easy to overwrite with new software.

Also and this is a warning. If you do want to get the phone unlocked at a market stall, if the guy uses any type of battery device (like a 9v battery to unlock the phone) this will cause damage to the circuit board it self and thus stop you updating the phones firmware and EROM.

If you need to unlock the phone then please ask your network provider (I know that they charge a small ammount but its the safest thing to do and this will not damage the phone)

** Answers before you ask **
There is no difference in the speed of the menus / opening applications.
No difference in sound through the speaker, however i have not tried any of my headsets. (If you want me to let me know)
There is no difference in video quality when recording or when doing a video call.

Things that i have noticed when using the phones today.

Ok when sending items via bluetooth.
the one with the latest firmware the light goes of after 15 seconds.
The one with the old firmware takes 1 min 25 secs..

Both phones were charged up this morning and I have used them identically. (Very sad i know) (Both phones had 10 hours charge) and both were charged from flat.

However my results are as follows after 20 SMS, 2 Photos, 1 x 20 min conversation, 60 seconds of wap usage.

New firmware has 83% of battery life left
Old Firmware has 77% of battery life left.

Another thing i have noticed.

when the phone is locked when you press any buttons on the old firmware the light would come on bright then dull in a second.
On the new firmware this doesnt happen, the phone only comes on dull. The screen only becomes bright after unlocking the phone.

I 2nd darren's info regarding the battery. I had my k800 upgraded from my service centre free of charge having the R3A016 EROM and R1ED firmware. After sending quite a few games, apps, taking pics(19 pics with flash), listening to music(30mins approx.), play games and call of atmost 15mins my battery remained to 96% after a full charge. I don't have a 3G sim thus using the standard GSM network and backlight set up to 50%brightness. I believe after doing this in the old firmware would probably leave the phone to atleast 90% - 85%. Besides these, i feel that the phone is stable compared to R1CB and no more scary thoughts of the phone turning dead again.

@mårten

The only difference i can find, is that theres less noise when taking pics in the dark. The colours seem to be slightly more natural. My blue wallpaper in dark with the flash on looks blue instead of the washed blue on the old firmware. The phones seems to save the pics a little faster.

Oh it now seems to focus on thngs better, As before some times it wouldnt always focus on things the first time.

Other wise than that i cant see any other changes.

@ghostfreak

Answer to your question is no. However it is now advisable to do so as the EROM is one of the main controllers of the phone.

If you are already using the latest firmware with the old EROM and if your phone is fine and you are happy with it, Then as my mum would say
"if it aint broke don't fix it"

However if you do the firmware update now on Wotan Server. It is advisable to do the EROM as the new K800 firmware will not always work.

@Skrue very true and i was using both 3g and 2g networks. On Orange.
However I will also try my other network sim cards and see if i get simular results

Hope this helps
