We can read in impressions section: "The fact of the matter is that the update for this model is almost ready to go – this device comes armed with an inbuilt GPS-receiver, sports different design as well as certain software-related modifications."

Hmmm... I don't need GPS in mobile, but SE K850i despite few improvents (like sorting messages in folders) still doesn't offer locking folders. I wonder if Code memory is still so poor as in K800i.

K800i Code memory gives only possibility to enter name for the code and the code (both to short for me). I'd like SE to allow me to put the code name, and inside eg. login and password (much longer than in K800i). Let's say I'd like to enter login and password to Esato forum. So I put Esato forum as name, and then inside it I have a place to put login and password. Now there is no such possibility. And I'm affraid that K850i doesn't give this possibility either.

Next K850i on polish auction site:

http://www.allegro.pl/item221[....]sony_ericsson_k850i_nowy_.html

Still it looks like a prototype thing but the price is nice I think.

1900zl = about 500Euro

Well GPS in a phone is a very good thing, but if they will built-in GPS into a dumb phone, i wouldn't stop laughing, there is no worse thing than having GPS in a java based phone, man it's a pain in ass, and i'm afraid that SE will deliver this to us. If the K850i successor will have GPS built-in and won't feature Symbian, WM, Linux or other OS, i won't be looking for successor, i will just jump ship to P-series or Nokia as SE goes for mass-market shit.

Anyway K850i is worth almost nothing, brings only UI improvements which i find bad and too much nokia-alike. The reason why i buy SE is because of their original UI which is very easy and fast in use, i don't need a crappy Nokia UI, that's sick. And the new "Media" section sucks hard. While viewing a photo u get big play button(dunno why? someone can explain? example below):

In a photo explorer i want to see the whole pic not just a small part of it, they could make text as it's kinda transparent, but this big play button is just something unbelievieble. How further will SE go to make UI worse? Don't know, i'm just scared to see K850i successor...

Dude, I think that's just a video. Maybe you play it with the middle button.

I'm still getting the K850i as it'll be my travel phone. I love taking photos! Listening to music while surfing internet via Opera.

Linux & Java OS by Motorola is getting powerful, BUT still isn't showing us anything new.

Symbian OS on the S60 side is making HUGE strides. SE you used to LEAD this space not tooo long ago. Nokia was smart enough to kill off segregation of the Symbian platform; just offering different cases and specific designs for various markets without loosing too many features. SE can learn something from them. I expect the P3i to be much better than what the E90 gives in everything except that mad-crazy couch porn screen & GPS. I don't want GPS. How often are ppl lost in the city they grew up in or live in for more than 1 year where public transit or a cabby cannot show them the way.

GPS - RIM had it perfect. Either have GPS chipset built in & or allow for maps to be downloaded over the data network. Yes they partnered with other map makers for the 8800 & Pearl and now Vodafones 8310 GPS enabled CUrve.

MS smartphone > I'm greatly considering getting a Dopod C730 for my multimedia & smartphone PIM needs. If it wasn't for cash atm I'd own it by now! Glad cash is tight atm because it allows me to wait for the RIM 8320 Curve with WiFI.

Something just tells me that the K850i would be PERFECT if it ran UIQ3 just like the Moto Z8! or even Linux OS that match power like the PS3.

If SE was smart they'd fully leverage their investment in UIQ3.1 that the Z8 is using for ALL Mid-Tier & High End phones. Keep the A1 platform for low end phones. A1 is already as perfect as it'll get, refinements aside due to hardware config variances, UIQ3.1 is promising for the Mid-Tier Walkman & Camara line.

K850i's successor no doubt should be UIQ3.1 based.

But we all know SE, slow increments & changes that don't affect daily usuability & efficiency for task execution.

I stay away from Nokia because they stuff Symbian in all their high-end phones. They turn out to be very slow and I don't like the interface either. I hope SE does not stop producing the high-end non-smartphone camera phones.

I personally don't think they will stop producing high-end non-smartphone camera phones, cause they 'll loose a big amount of customers, these phones i think help sonyericsson being one of the greatest brands cause they "give" many things in the lowest price possible. And with their simplisity in design and use, we love them, and buy them.

Brief list of differences between A200 and A100

We are not going to go through all difference and rather focus on the main points:

* Phonebook – 5000 entries and 35000 phone numbers, two new fields for mobile numbers;
* Smart Search – search for phone numbers with first letters or digits;
* Media – revamped view based on tags and date;
* Exchange ActiveSync – support for this standard enables data transfers between the K850i and corporate services with only a handful of settings;
* Message classification, ability to store all or only selected messages on the memory card;
* MTP protocol for USB-connection;
* Local connection option for accessing the network established on your PC;
* NetFront 3.4 browser, in-browser flash support;
* Shortcuts to own applications;
* Walkman 3.0 provides core player functionality;
* Photos can have custom tags;
* Slow-motion video playback mode;
* X-Pict Story – slide-show mode;
* Support for up to 32 Gb memory cards;
* RSS – offline mode, ticker in standby mode;
UP TO 32GB of memory cards,in the whitepaper says 4GB,doesn't matter, 2GB works 4 me.

The white paper lists some more changes than just "UI improvements" compared to K800 (few of them can be found in K810 as well I think).

http://developer.sonyericsson[....]ls/phonespecs/p_phonespecs.jsp

- Auto rotate of screen
- BestPic speed selection
- 5 MP camera
- Camera mode switch (switch between camera, video and play modes)
- Camera scene modes with examples
- OMA DRM 2.0
- BT available in flight mode
- TrackID
- Direct search to internet and enter address
- Java Platform 8
- Media Center
- 2-in-1 card reader (M2+microSD)
- Music Player 3.0
- Music Player effects
- 3G/HSDPA (850/1900/2100) + GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1900)
- Photo Fix
- Smart search
- Video blogging

Sobo has also listed some more differences and there is pobably even more changes than that under the hood I would guess. Summing up everything it seems the difference is bigger than one may think (its not just the look).
