I don't think it could be interchangeable in any other way other than accessories. How on earth could they implement an interchangeable lens mechanism that DSLRs have on a phone anyway?

It is the IR transmitter
In Japan, they do it in a different way. Two phone back to back with each others and exchange their contact details such as email, phones etc (through IR transmission)
I think this is why they put it on the back

Regarding Honami, i like the idea of camera lenses accessories the big lenses at the back will make the phone became awkward

I shall repeat this story again

Singapore was actually a test-bed for these magnetic lens. When Xperia V came, Sony gave the first few hundred customers free magnetic lens to hook up to the Xperia V. Xperia V had the lens capabilities apparently, but not many people knew.

I have no photos but I managed to find a description of it.

Anyway I got mine from a Sony Centre during the launch day, so I received the free gift of a Sony external charger (2000mAh) and mini exchangeable lens (1x telephoto lens, 1x wide angle).

-Not tried the charger yet. So I am not sure how much does it give the phone. I am hoping a full charge within an hour or so.

- Lens are very innovative.
What it does is that it works like a magnet. Put a magnetic ring around the phone back-facing lens and another onto the provided lens, and they just click!
Somehow, shot quality seem to be affected once the lens are on, noticeable grains on the photo taken. I used it in the void deck at night, so lighting might a factor affecting the overall quality.

^Well that would explain the metallic ring around the lens!

Care to share images of magnetic lens [can you ask your source]? I searched google and never found any Xperia phone with such type of lens.

Wouldn't that be, because no Xperia phone until now has actually had one?
