z drive is ROM (read only memory)

C drive - phone memory, and system folders inside it can be edited (such as the files inside of them)
d drive - memory stick (if there is any in the phone)
z drive: read only drive. Files can be replaced with shadow copies but it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED NOT TO DO THAT. Otherwise you get dead phone.

How do I use them even before taking a photo? The normal procedure is to take a pic and them apply the frames, isn't it?

Install PC suit for Sony Ericsson. You can get it from the official site, under support. then connect your phone to it. the language pack is there too.
