Im afraid you can point me to all the articles telling me " what Symbian is all about" all you like, I'm just saying that as a very very long time user it is no longer relevant really, and as soon as you stop emotion getting in the way of your thought processes you'll realise that too.
Speaking as a Hi-Fi enthusiast I know how much "progress" can sometimes leave great things extinct and leave you with the turd that is MP3, but I also accept that "it is what it is" I can still buy vinyl for my audio needs, but its a pain finding it and not all new releases support it, a bit like using Symbian nowadays, it can be done but there are sacrifices to be made and the situation will only get worse and you will have to miss out on certain things
The fact that all the other three major OS's were "not meant to live in the mobile world" as you say but continue to dominate must tell you something. I have no affinity with any of them, I choose WP8 because it suits me best.

Like what exactly? Trendy apps? The latest design? LoL.
I rather continue using my 808. And about WP, from a symbian user, is a downgrade. Android or BB10 are closer to what symbian offer. WP is none this none that. No file explorer is the first example that comes to my mind.

No, just support, OS updates and yes apps, ones that will be useful in the future
Fella as I've stated above I'm on your side here, I am a Symbian fan, always have been and always will be and almost certainly longer than you have been. You continually rolling out the same argument about no file explorer are becoming repetitive and when WP8.1 is officially released, irrelevant (there's that word again) I appreciate that the new WP8.1 file explorer will not be as capable as Xplore or FExplorer for Symbian but at least its a start
Anyways can we go back to your original statement and can you tell me why the article mentioned was biased ? a long time Symbian user realises its time to move on and gives his reasons for doing so........where's the problem?

Of course there are market condition caused by forces beyond the customer's control, and if we didn't live in a corporate dominated market place, I would say that this is the natural way for the market to decide what works and what doesn't.. but alas that isn't the case so what we are presented with in the market place doesn't directly reflect what is best for the consumer. Does that make sense ?
The statement "meant for a different era" is loaded to say the least, and if you look at it from a technical point of view, its invalid, which is what I tried to show with the articles I posted. There are no emotions here..
I understand your point, but the analog (vinyl) vs. digital (mp3) analogy is far fetched. The basis for digital wining over analog are much deeper and more complex than in the case of two operating systems.
This is a completely different topic, but I believe that sooner or later digital will win over analog in music making itself, or in other words it would replace real instruments.. the potential is there, I think its just a matter of time. Its sounds crazy, I know.. but a lot of people thought that nothing can ever replace the type writer either...

Does xmppservice constanly run on your phone and do you know how to turn it off? It keeps my network connection constantly on and use too much network traffic. I have no background running apps.

Do you have the Nokia Chat or the LightBulb app installed? (both use xmpp services in the background)
Even when you dont set them up, they still have that service you mention in the background. I had it when I installed the LightBulb app from AppList (link:
