He also says they would withdraw from TVs if it continues bleeding money but it's unlikely.

Are they not better concentrating on the US? It seems that the millions they spend gaining market share in China can easily be lost with each Japan / Chinese spat.

I know this isn't a rumour, but I'm truly confused: Is the Xperia Z1 Compact (and thus, the Z1f) using a IPS panel? Or it has a TFT one?

What about the Xperia Z1, Tablet Z and Z Ultra? Do they use IPS or TFT?

Almost every LCD screen (TN, VA, IPS, MVA etc) uses a Thin-film transistor (TFT) Even AMOLED. I Mean TFT is not a screen panel

Here, you will find the answer of What panel Sony used on Z1
[Discussion] Z1 display lottery. Again.
and This (Very Informative)
demystifying Xperia Z1 ( Display technology revealed it is AMVA pannel..)

And Yes Z1 Compact uses a IPS panel, Thats why the Z1-C has better viewing angles than some Z1

@Whitemagic OLED prototype:
Sounds awesome!
I guess this combines the best of both worlds, high contrast, deep blacks, low energy consumption and high brightness.

I need to buy this

Yes, two panel vendors. They are almost identical, both are IPS with ~ 1400:1 contrast and similarly wide viewing angles.

There is no loser in the panel lottery this time. I've seen it in person and compared it to a Z Ultra, it is better than the ZU screen IMO, better viewing angles and slightly better contrast. They both had the same PPI as well at ~340 so they are directly comparable and IMO the Z1-C won out.

^Looks like Sony has finally exhausted their old supply chain.
