Hmmm, they probably used a new supply chain for that. zomg did mention that Sony was trying to get rid of the old supply chain via the Z1, which was 400,000 panels if I remember, which I guess was a good plan.

Yep, I checked one out not to long ago. Terrible viewing angles and it was a rather washed out screen, even from head-on.

T'was one of the 3 screens in the lottery for the Xperia TX that was pretty amazing.

It is still the best Sony smartphone screen I've seen first hand. Beats my Xperia Z, marginally beats my Tablet Z and is better than all my experience with other Sonys.

My wife still uses my old TX. I still look on with longing in my eyes. If it had upto date internals I'd not mind going back to that arched back design. The current omnibalance design language is nice and has benefits but isn't as sleek as the arc designs.

Hmm, my girlfriend has Xperia V and display is very good, contrast is great and viewing angels are far better then on my Z1! Don't know how you experienced that?

Display variations. All OEM's have it, but Sony's vary from 1500:1 to 500:1 contrast. Its pretty poor.
Hopefully that's changed, now with the Z1compact.

arch design is definitely my favorite design from them, though it was from errison Scandinavian designers, omni balance is the first real sony designed phones. Can't wait to see the sense of quartz design for 2014.

So since the Z1s turned out to be just a minor refresh of the Z1 and not the new half a year flagship, isn't the upcoming flagship for MWC supposed be called Z2 and have a new design, etc.? will they call it Z1 x (x=something) after naming 3 devices with "Z1" = Z1, Z1s and Z1 Compact? hard for me to believe as both the name and design get old and it's a new flagship and a new year. on the other hand, there is a sense in naming Z2 every new year (next IFA), but all this naming decisions don't make sense sometimes, so everything is possible i guess.
