sounded (i'm not implying you mean't it!) more like degrading other faiths in which you don't believe in..rather than an "explanation" why not to worship idols.

But Hinduism doesn't exactly think and work that way..
First of all, come out of the cocoon you are in and try to find out what other faiths really teaches.
And do you really think you can judge a 5000+ year old religion just by having a look at some of its customs and traditions?
Trying to Learn things that other faiths teaches which could be of help in ones life is much better than trying to find out what "mistakes" and "errors" can be found in other faiths or trying to prove "why my faith is superior to yours".
Does idolatry make Hinduism bad?
Does fundamentalists and terrorists make Islam bad?

i didn't mean physically trap I meant trap in essence.
Anyway, at the end of the day we dont worship idols becuase God is everywhere and is not specific to one place at a time so we worship his aura I guess.

In my country AIDS is claiming millions of lives, and the poverty and starvation that this leads to is terrible to witness. If people really, truly want to see God, look into the eyes of a starving child who's just been handed his first meal in two or three days.

I got my own opinions with hinduism.... I wont say what but most of it just doesnt make sense to me... I could question it, but I think It will just end up in a bickering situation.
One thing I should admit is some of the Tamil and Hindhu people are amongst the most humble people iv met...

It just felt silly if there such religion that doesnt allow pictures etc.. so bein straight to the point that Islam is ok to have those.. just dont go pray at it.. once again my apologise.

Nope it won't.
But will praying to Allah and asking him to feed the hungry kids do the job?
Neither will!
Hungry kids (or anyone hungry for that matter) can be fed only when people like us do something for them.
If i could feed all hungry people on earth just by praying to god, i'd have done it thousands of times!
It doesn't work that way!

You are in a similar dilemma as millions of others who feel that Islam doesn't make any sense..
Now, according to moderate, peace-loving, Muslims, Islam is a religion of peace and teaches all good things in life...etc..etc.. with which i agree..
BUT,
Most people outside of Islam thinks Islam is all about gore, violence, jihad and say what not...
These are opinions too ain't they?
But are they correct?
One is free to have opinions about anything, but it doesn't necessarily mean that those opinions are correct!

Hmmm... Ganesha statues drinking Milk!
That was the biggest hoax of the year 1995!
I call them superstition and blind faith..
But hey!
Another point.
Some people believed it was Ganesha drinking milk, they believed it, they felt peace..
If some people felt happy about the fact that a statue drank milk and that it was some sort of a message from god, whats wrong in it?

According to a reporter from the Express newspaper, UK, they were calling it the Miracle Tomato of Huddersfield. For when a schoolgirl sliced it in half she found written inside what thousands believe to be a message from God. Moslem Shasta Aslam 14, was astounded to see the words, spelled out in Arabic, "There is only one God" and "Mohammed is the messenger" in the veins of the each segment.
Then more than 50 worshippers a day were making a pilgrimage from all over Britain to see the wonderful tomato. And the shop which sold it has been doing roaring trade in the fruit since the find on that Sunday afternoon. Shasta made the discovery as she helped her grand parents prepare a salad at their terraced home in Lockwood, Huddersfield.
She paid about 60 pence for a bag of tomatoes on a trip to a store across the road with her cousin, 14-year-old Jasmine Saleem. When Shasta returned she cut up the first two tomatoes into small pieces. But she took a third from the brown paper bag, something made her stop. She turned to her grandfather Noor Mohammed, 68 and asked: "Which way shall I cut the tomato, granddad?"
He told her to slice it top to bottom. If she had chopped it up like the others the message would have been lost. Shasta, a pupil at Salendine Nook High School, said yesterday: "God made me buy that tomato. These words are a message from God. It's a miracle."
Shasta's mother Shamim Javed, said: "She keeps up her prayers and goes down to the mosque as often as she can God has sent us all a sign." She added "You hear about these things in foreign countries but never here in Britain - let alone Huddersfield! It was an incredible twist of fate that the tomato ended up with Shasta. "Someone else could easily have sliced the tomato the other way round, or even eaten without noticing the message inside."
Shasta's grandfather has been greeting hundreds of worshippers from across the country at his home. He kept the tomato on a plate in his fridge hoping to preserve it as long as possible. "Nearly 200 people had come from as far away as Manchester, Birmingham and London to see it," he said. "We are expecting a lot more people from further afield.
"Shasta comes to see us almost every day after saying prayers at the mosque. She is always helping us out." Shopkeeper Shahida Parveera, who works at Younas Foodstore across the road, has been selling out of tomatoes every day since the discovery. "We are thinking of opening a tomato trade," he said.
Last year hundreds of Asians flocked to the home of a man in Bolton who believed he had received a message from Allah in an Aubergine. Factory worker Salim Patel sliced one open and saw that the seeds spelled out the name of the Moslem deity.
These people believed it was a message from Allah, they felt good. Why worry then?
No harm done to anyone!
