Do you think that the K850i refresh will still have the touch buttons? I have heard most people just complain about them (ie the button being pushed while on a call with the phone to the face).

Normally when a upgrade is announced, buyers wait till the new phone is launched rather than buying the one that is currently available. If a face-lifted version of the K850i is announced in Jan-Feb, many people will not buy the K850i, which would mean lot of surplus K850i inventory for SE.

I would rather bet on a higher-end version of the K850i which would be priced say around $100-150 higher than the K850i. It could have optical zoom or a higher megapixel count. People who can't afford it would go for the K850i. SE can then announce the face-lifted version of the K850i in mid-2008.

That's what I think and I can be wrong.

A K850 face lift is real needed,

They need replace it with a new d-pad, and a cameracover as K810, and hope for the optical zoom..

The K850i was announced in June 2007 and according to some it was delayed although I am unsure by how long, I'm guessing a few months? If it was delayed by say 3 - 4 months - then it was initially supposed to be announced in February / March 2007.

The previous flagship K800i was announced February. 2006

A new flagship cameraphone for February 2008?

Possibly.

Well in the Indian market, the K850i has been released last month only though the announcement was made alongwith the global announcement... sometime in June-July i believe... I'd bet SE would most probably launch an all together new cybershot phone than just the K850i facelift!

@cellpassion

You have to know that the costs for R&D for facelift-versions are negligible to the enormous costs of succsessor-versions
That's why the companies often offer a facelift after realising the decreasing sales/demand and market performance.
