Hey at least you can change the colour of the icons!
(and choose from a wide variety of background colours, including black and white)

Guys, just found out by accident, at lock screen, if you swipe the clock to the left you get access to the build in mp3 player controlls without having to unlock the phone =P

Version .73 of the software seems to already have solved that. No need for custom ROM for that alone.
