I dont think we can measure the correct speed using online test sites. Because it will only show the speed between the Airtel proxy and the test website and not the real speed of the gprs. To measure the real speed, yet must measure it manually while downloading some file. Correct me if i am wrong on this

Yes dude. You are 100% right. But this also depends on the server location. So it's better to check the speed by downloading file from a server hosted in India.

Why is it so that one get so variation in speeds.. For instance.. If someone connects wit the mms Apn to the proxy 100.1.200.99 and port 8080... And the other connects wit Airtelfun.com then the former gives speeds of 8kbps , and the latter gives 70 or more... Why is it So.? As the server is same in both the cases... Isn't it?

No. I don't believe in that. If you are using 100.1.200.99 gateway, you both will be getting same speeds.

As I said b4, Airtel has placed their GPRS servers in different locations and proxy is a driver(connector) for that. As a result of that, the speed may change when u disconnect and reconnect. So if you get low speed, disconnect and reconnect. Try till you get good speed. By this method you can get about 50kbps even in peak hours.

Great link dude.
@stayback
I'm getting average speed of 65kbps. The maximum I got was 101kbps(on June 17th at 6:05am). I'm not using MMS apn(its not working). But I checked the speed with NOP & Airtel live apn's. But I'm getting more with Live APN. I checked the speeds today by using MO APN. The speed was not good, only 50kbps. So I think the spartan's trick gives us better speed.

@shivam
Congrats man. Atlast you succeeded in this trick by using MMS apn. By the way, how you made it to work? Any special procedures?

What do you mean by 70. Is it KBps or kbps. These units are case-sensitive. 8kbps is too low! But 8KBps is normal.
