Would the N95-2 Euro version work in Canada?

Hi QVGA
The P & W characters are used in unlocking the phone with the manufacturer code be careful as if you press the green button after this you will use up one of the 3 chances you get to unlock it. After 3 even with the right code the phone can no longer be unlocked at all ever.

Watched Spiderman3 on a 14" portable last week(N95-2 v.15 fw)! Got to say, it looked good(not amazing, but the TV is an old Orion, doesn't help), however the phone UI doesn't look so hot blown up like that(esp. compared to 904SH)......

It's true that p and w are used by manufacturers in locking codes but their original function is for the sending of dtmf tones over the phone (for example to gain access to a system or an answering service) In this case they represent pauses between sets of numbers.

Only GPRS & EDGE will work.
Here in Canada & North America (US, Mexico, South America) we use the following for 3G & HSDPA bands:
850Mhz & 1900Mhz
reason: the other bands 900/1800/2100mhz are already in us by other entities for different technologies.
Canada is unique though for the following aspects:
EDGE: is ONLY on 850mhz!
Reason: Rogers Wireless launched GPRS on top of TDMA back in Nov 2001 to compete with Fido/Microcell Inc. our ONLY other GSM provider (and TRUE GSM core at that time). Since then Rogers went FULL GSM Core with the help & acquisition of Fido brand from Microcell (they actually bought Microcell & other licensing technologies) just under 3yrs ago. Since Microcell only had a GSM/GPRS network across Canada, Rogers launched EDGE just before purchase on the 850mhz bands to save costs (Licensing bands; this was cheaper & allowed for spectrum blocks to be used for 3G less than 1yr later). There are FEW & RARE occurences in the country where EDGE is also on 1900mhz.
3G & HSDPA (yes we've got 7.6Mbps data rates)
both on 850mhz/1900mhz.
This May 20th is a HUGE milestorm in Canada.
1> License auction for spectrum will for the FIRST time in history here allow for OUTSIDE companies to purchase, own, partner or setup a wireless network to FULLY compete.
Reason: we're getting sick of a virtual monopoly of GSM network choice of brands & too much of a stagnant CDMA partnership between Telus Mobility & BELL across the country.
2> Canadian business can purchase up to 60% of the new spectrum (for any technology) while outside business' can purchase up to 40% of spectrum blocks.
Hope this sheds some light.

THe BEST news of all from my posting last page is this phone is APPROVED by Rogers for VISION services.
* thats means $7/mth for UNLIMITED On-Device surfing!!!!!
WOAH! I feel like that baby in the E-Trade commercial that puked from excitement!
- still remains to be seen if 3rd party apps can be detected and charged extra for usage.
