If they do then P990 will be outdated before its released.
If they do, then N91 will be outdated too. If they announce something soon, it will probably be some mid rang phone or so. Probably nothing special that has not already been announced by them (same phone in another shell).

ur stats may be true...but look the 2005 market...
When we have statistics for 2005, we can proceed this discussion. But with what it is know until now, Symbian dominates Windows on mobile phones.

m telling u... windows mobile iz damn satisfying....
You should try another OS once and while and you realise what satisfaction realy is, and its not spelled W I N D O W S. Windows may be a good OS, but its certanly not gods gift to the human kind (well Bill is no god after all).

I still cannot get over the fact that SE's top of the line business model phone (current P800, 900, 910) cannot sync between a PIM's folders/categories and the phone's folders.
Do you think SE's product managers will have realized, by now, that they really need to provide this "simple" function to their users?
You think the P990 will finally have this feature in its PCSuite application? Or, maybe they will go back to the XTNDConnect application that used to work so well in the T68 days.
I am just hoping ...

P990 is now more a Sony product than an ericsson & although i wanted Wi-Fi, that phone is too thick, when i buy a new SE phone i expect to get a "Wow" facter, i dont think the P990 has it. also i also do not buy into 3G because its a con.

perhaps the best way to sum it up is that this end of the market is much more competitive than when the p800 was released and was pretty much unchalleneged.
the symbian figures show its a popular os but most of those figures are series 60 as se share of the smartphone market is quite small compared to nokias ( yes i know some people dont think s60 is a really smartphone but the figures say it is)
it will be interesting to see how the p990 fairs against many other competitors that in this sector now.
i think nearer the time well get a better idea from reviews etc as to how go the phone is in the real world as this is the important thing not whats on a press release

Your post was too long to read. But I'll check out the Clie to get better understanding for your (or Sonys) idea. A link to a Clie site showing what you mean would be most appreciated.

Of course it would be easy to do without the cable... these things were out at least 4 years ago.
And regarding Sony ceasing Clie production... yes, they did... but because they didn't want to continue with the Palm OS (since they bought into Symbian)... and even if it was because of poor sales... that didn't stop them from cramming the $#!tty Memorystick into the P-series. Originally, the P-series had an SD slot (when it was still under Ericsson)

I will only get one if the flip definately comes off as it's so ugly with it on also I don't like the back as it makes it look cheap. So it might be a wm5 phone for me like the xda atom

I have used S60, UIQ, Windows Mobile Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 and I have to say that I like S60 the best by far, altough I love the homescreens on WM (which the new S60's also have implemented in a different form and which as I can see in that PDF doc sadly WON'T be implemented in UIQ). I wasn't a big fan of UIQ, but it felt better than WMPPC. WM5.0 on the other hand is a big improvement phonewise. We don't know if UIQ3 will be any good and especially in the beginning. In the video on the Swedish site is seemed so ubelievably slow. I know it has to be tweaked and everything, that's why it's released so late, but still. The P800 wasn't perfect when it got released. So I really hope it will be any good.
But..... buying a WM5.0 phone isn't a option for me anymore and it shouldn't be for any SE lover in here too. I started to realise that specs don't mean sh*t! I've never seen a WM PPC or smartphone which had a high quality in everything (accessoires, callquality, CAMERA!!, etc). I have the MDA Compact, like my friends, and a Orange SPV500 and they both have horrible camera's, bad accessoires, not good phone quality and the OS just doesn't feel right in some way. After buying the W800i I haven't touched my smartphones, cause the quality difference is huge (eventhough I miss my upcoming appointments). The new HTC WM5.0 smartphones are still not all that, eventhough they have great specs on paper (2.0mp, WIFI, etc). Just check the pics taken with the Wizard or Tornado, pure crap. That's why I have my hopes on SE or Nokia (N70 is just amazing). Windows ain't an option in the near future when you got used to quality.

Am I the only one who´s concerned about the speed of the device? When you watch the videostream at
MOB_Administratorer805.dbp.asp" target="_blank" rel="nofollow]http://mobil.mkf.se/ArticlePa[....]MOB_Administratorer805.dbp.asp
the phone seems really slow. It takes quite a while to lanch an app (musicplayer or something). It even takes quite a while to launch the dailerpad! I hope this is just because it´s not finalized yet.
