Very impressive i must say. Actually the only new tech i could see here is the multi-tap.
Now put a multi-tap plus 3.2mp camera or higher, 30fps video playback etc. in a SE slim device. You'll get the iphone killer! I really don't think SE, Nokia or Samsung are that far in producing their own version of multi-tap phones.
Also, the user operations may look easier for us teach-geeks but it could be a bit uncomfortable for others especially elderly folks.
The pricing should also be taken into consideration. Not everyone has or would be willing to spend that amount on phone. I'm waiting for SE's killer iPhone! I know they can do it.

I believe that the iphone´s main assets are its software and multi-touch tech. Those are apple´s strenghs and its no wonder their phone have the best of it in the world right now. Nokia and

may come up with similar products but the multi-touch tech was patented by apple last year and i doubt they´ll sell it to nokia or

. Not to mention the software. Apple´s software is unique. Nokia,

and other companies may have been on the mobile market for longer but remeber that this is not just a phone, its a small computer. Apple ´s been a OS powerhouse for over 30 years. They know how to make it impressive, they know how to make better, more intuitive and more attractive. Its not a surprise the iphone´s ui looks and works the way it does. No mobile company has apple´s software quality and expertise. Microsoft may have developed windows mobile but it doesnt support multi-tap and i dont think it will in years because of the patent, not to mention the fact that microsoft itself copies apple all the time when it comes to software just like the mobile companies will do now. Similiar products may appear in the q4 of this year or next year but who knows what apple may be developing now or then?

Apple site has all the iPhone user interface demo vids online now:
http://www.apple.com/iphone
This fone looks freakin amazing! Why wasnt the P990 more like this rather than just another P800 revision.
Apple have been developing this thing for 2.5 years and it is essentially running Mac OS X, stripped down/tailored codebase maybe but compiled from the same source as the desktop version - and it looks and acts like Mac OS X from the vids. Apple dont generally brag about something until its been developed to an
an@l level, unlike Sony and many other companies who promise then dont deliver on time, then struggle to even deliver what was promised. Probably not a biggie that Apple has entered this market late, there were many MP3 players around before the iPod, and the iPod hasn't been dethrowned after many many geek years.
Wonder what the next gen models will have, theres a wider scope of evolution with this gadge...

Steve Jobs said during the introduction that 3G is coming...
How many of you have actually watched the video of the iPhone Introduction?
http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/j47d52oo/event/
Seeing it in action really does show how far advanced the UI is... and that Multi-Touch screen is just amazing. Zooming in and out of photos, and scrolling is great.

I think once the hype dies down.... if it ever does people will see this for what it is. A very nice product and something to get excited about but it's nothing that new on what's available now. People saying it's running the full opperating system are deluded. It's a mobile version so not much different from WM5 I expect.
we'll know later how exactly it's tied to osx ...but they mentioned it can install the same apps which makes it intriuging

What get's me is this claim of it being 5 years ahead of anything else?? I give it 6 months to a year after it's released before SE and Nokia totally ruin Apple's thunder, not to mention LG and Samsung etc. The mobile market is totally crowded and one Apple will never dominate as their far too late to the party for that.
I just can't see the other manufacturers sitting their and doing nothing, they'll release killer phones no doubt.
At least WE are the winners in all this as WE get all the fantastic gadgets.
im sorry but if they had ideas for killer phones they would be releasing them, in what you call an already deadly market....unless they decide to do a microsoft and start copying..
