well i bought my US 40gb PS3 last weekend. got it with fifa08 and mlb the show08 worked out at 540 dollars due to tax so 270quid if you convert it still a good price.
been playing fifa online and doing quite well think its maybe because i can only play americans at the moment as im in america? anyway already i know i will have it longer than i lasted with my 360(5months)

Don't think thats the case..online isn't limited to regions..i have a Singapore bought fifa..and can find people from all parts of the world in the lobbies..

btw heres a cool self cleaning feature i found..if your ps3 fans are making too much noise..you might want to try this..its a fan test..
