Anyway SE Japan has just announced a new member of the SE cybershot family: SO905iCS - if it's sold outside japan then this will surely replace K850's position as the best imaging phone
This really caught my eye:
Here are some pictures of the Japanese Sony Ericsson SO905iCS Cyber-shot phone, that will be announced as a part of DoCoMo’s new 905i lineup of phones.
SO905iCS will feature a 5.1 megapixel CCD camera with auto focus and Cyber-shot branding. Furthermore it’ll have a 3x optical zoom (4.5 - 13.5 mm). It’ll also have a xenon flash, something looking like face recognition and I must say it looks like a real camera!!
(The whole blog post is
here.)
This is one mother of a camera phone! This is what M-R talked about when they said that SE would be using the same 5MP Sony sensor as in i-mobile's 902!
Shame that this is only for the Japanese market
If they release anything similar globally then even die-hard N95 fans would be chucking their phones

(At least those who actually care about photo quality!)
Errr, sorry to burst your bubble again. This model houses a CMOS sensor again ^^ BUT, lets hope that SE produces a GOOD CMOS sensor that is on par with CCD sensor! CMOS has the capability!!~~

@outmyway
Good points if only the Xenon flash actually fired at the right time but seeing as it currently doesn't it's only any use on paper not in real life. Whilst it is not every K850 it does seem to be a fair amount by the number of people that are complaining and even on their 2nd unit already.
I thought the whole point of these Camera phones was point and shoot, just how many users are going to want to start changing exposures and fiddling with settings before taking a picture. Or having to manipulate their pictures on a computer with software to start getting decent results. Which is really funny as you are complaining that the N95 does this so has better pictures but the K850 would be as good with extra work.
I really don't think it is even disputable that so far the K850 has failed to live up to what many expected it deliver, hell even reviewers that previously praised SE are now openly criticising them.

i dont know if some of you have seen some good k850 pics..(it sounds that you only have seen some crappy review/compare pictures)
its something odd with the reviews from ex, GSM Arena, (obvious its a Nokia fanboy who take the pictures...some of the k850 pictures looks like hell..)
if you get pictures with this quality..im convinced that the camera is realy good.......ive seen good pictures from N95 to...i think the camera is the only thing on (original) N95 who actaully is good......the rest of the phone feels realy cheap.

Why the persistence with resized shots. They prove absolutely nothing. I'll prove my point - Below are some quick spur of the moment point and shoot shots I have previously taken on my K800 and old W800. Apart from being resized to 640x480 they are totally unaltered:
A shot of tap taken on K800:
Here, three old 2mp shots taken my old W800:
They all look just as good to me as the shrunk K850 shots. They also look far better at full res than any K850 shot I've seen so far. What's the advantage of a K850 if all you're going to is shrink shots.
Oh, and here's a resized picture of my backyard taken on friends N95. It too looks pretty good a full res:
Plankgatan, I'm/we're still waiting for you to deliver on your promise of posting some full size samples of images you have posted.

100% crop please

i want to see the details on the leaves and the grass of the picture

prove to me that the water color effect on N95 does not degrade the quality of the photos

I actually did a comparison shot with my K800. You're right - the n95 didn't handle the leaves very well. See 100% crops of leaves from N95 and K800 below
N95:
K800:
But, the picture at full res overall is not too bad, it's certainly focused, sharp and doesn't strike you as been grainy. The N95 did much better on the pebbles:
N95:
K800:
I know, it's not best to compare N95 with K800 but I can't get my hands on a K850. From what I've seen the K800 shots are on par if not better than K850 anyway. This is why I want to see some more full res k850 shots.
I'll try and submit full res images today - it's a bit hard for me to do at work though so may have to wait until tonight.

Ok. Full res photo's submitted here:
K800:

n95:

It's interesting how K800 does a far better job of the leaves all over. Even in the far distance. The N95 doesn't seem to like green. K800 is still more grainy over all and the close up details are better on N95.

@mongoose
But, the picture at full res overall is not too bad, it's certainly focused, sharp and doesn't strike you as been grainy. The N95 did much better on the pebbles:
as max and all others said the reason why N95 images aren't grainy or noisy and looked sharp was because of the certain post processing after the image was taken. this comprises the noise reduction, oversharpening, and oversaturating of colors that makes N95 images very good to the eye

- i too am happy with N95 quality but the water-color effect is an issue that was unacceptable for photographers who wants better details
This is what i have done with K850 - i used photoshop to apply similar adjustments N95 uses - like sharpening, noise reduction and colors(although i failed to adjust it in the same degree as N95 as i am not very good in saturating colors

)
heres the grass shots: (from GSMArena K850 vs N95

)
k850
n95
from here we can conclude that K850 has really more details than N95, because if it's not, the overprocessing i have done with K850 will produce pictures with details more degraded than the details N95 images have

for example imagine an already detail-degraded image undergo another noise reduction and sharpening.. expect the worse imho

This was posted in the wrong thread thread. I just compared DarKMaGiCiaN (only one or 2 persons who have posted full-sized K850 phtos) to those taken by my N95. You can see that at full size, K850 sensor is very noisy compared to N95.
Compare this taken with K850 (from DarKMaGiCiaN)

and following i took with my N95 way back

Even in daylight, K850 sensor exhibits a lot of noise.

compared to the one with my N95 from few months back taken in daylight.
