> New P1i Firmware - R9K009 - R6G04
Bookmark topic
Hi,
After XS ++ then SEUS ( which confirmend GW! ) I have the following :
Phone : CXC 162037 R9K009
Bluetooth : CXC 162143 R1D
Organiser : CXC162108 R6G04
CDA : 1620221/1 R6G02
Yet there is still a vodafone entry in the menu system : how is this explained when SEUS said installing GW1 ? Should I run SEUS again ?
Cheers
F

Just installed the latest firmware after changing to GW1 from Netherlands edition with XS++.
So far cons:
- Not able to backup or restore with SE PC suite (error: "phone fail"..).
- No matter what the restriction setting is, I always have to confirm before downloading an e-mail.
- Links in webbrowser look funny (as stated before).
So far pros:
- Apple iSync works with calender entries.
edit
- Rich text emails seem to readable.
The first two cons make me regret I have updated.. Is there any way to downgrade?
It seems to me the cons are caused by the new update, while the pros are caused by the switch to GW1.

Backup problems....could be the old one discovered in the p990 days - If you have several backups on your pc already, then it will fail when tring to create another.
Answer - delete some of your old backups or move them out of the relavant folder to somewhere else on your pc where the pcsuite can't see them.
If it's not this, then install the very latest version of the pcsuite (make sure you fully uninstall the old version first), and try again.
If this doesn't work, then try reflashing your phone with the current firmware, as it may be caused by a bad flash - make sure to empty the 'db' folder of SEUS first as this will force SEUS to download a new copy from SE's servers, so you can eliminate a bad download as the cause of your original problem.
good luck

GW1 = Generic World 1 = a release of the phone firmware that is not specific to any mobile network or country. It's also the first release to be updated to the latest version publicly.
XS++ = freeware software for the pc that, amongst other things, allows you to change the CDA of your phone.
CDA = A code embedded in the current firmware of your phone that tells SEUS which release to update your phone with.
The upshot being that if you change the CDA of your phone with XS++ to GW1, then update via SEUS, you end up with the latest publicly available firmware on your phone.
Find the software and info here:
http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=16338
Stuff about CDAs here:
http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/CDA/P1i
Best of luck!
P.S. Appologies to anyone who thinks this is all rather OT, but our man/woman in Amsterdam did ask....

Pt020,
Do you have the latest Netherlands version?
Personally I'm thinking of switching back to that version (if possible..).
Are there any issues you want to solve? Or do you just want to have the latest as you think it's the greatest?
I'm quite pessimistic about new firmware updates for P1i with all the new phones being announced...

AD, how do I reflash with SEUS? Do I use XS++ to change the version code?
I've made a backup file with XS++, if I restore it will SEUS install the latest local software on my phone?
Thanks for your help!

In theory that sounds right, having never done it myself though I can't be certain. I'd ask @gbrooks3 as he/she's one of the creators of XS++.
