I don't think I've known a device to be quite so divisive and provoke quite such a reaction from otherwise quite sensible-seeming people.
I mean at the end of the day it's just a mobile phone. It does a variety of other things to some degree or other, but basically it's a phone that you buy, use for a year or two, and then move on. If you don't like it, that's okay, you don't have to go anywhere near one.
Why does it get people so upset?
If you want to discuss or debate its merits or its failings that's fine - that's what we all do on forums like this - but "drones"? Please. You're wasting the internet.

You're right. Most phone geeks hate it and feel they absolutely must 'deprogram' the 'brainwashed' users, and yet the general consumer loves it. People at my part-time job constantly ask me about it and look enviously at it.
The funniest time was when I went down to my local bank to get advice on setting up the banks own iPhone App, and the teller saw me navigating the menus with my finger and asked me if I'd lost my stylus...
It's a never-ending source of entertainment in one form or another.
