Have you read how facetime works? Have you seen any device other than Apple that offers full screen video calling at a high resolution? If you do, how many? When you find that out, that's the reason why Face Time only work on IPhone 4. By the way, Face Time is an open standard.

Have you tried SE's implementation of Video Calling? It has far more features than Face Time, for instance on my V640i that I had in 2008 (and everyone here rubbished because it wasn't a K850i) could browse folders during a video call and display pictures and video clips to the other party. Also, setting such as Night Mode were available too.

The trouble is that SE awesome features were killed off because networks were trying to sell video calling to a market who mostly would not pay extra for it. iPhone is selling to a wealthier, higher end market - well, except for those people who say "I don't like it, but I'm still going to get it". Lord knows what demographic they fit into...

Anyone else here think of Video DJ when they saw iMovie demoed? Who's worse Apple for copying all SE's innovations or SE for not putting these awesome features on decent hardware in the beginning leaving Apple such a massive opportunity?

^Yes, I tried video calling once for less than a minute using my SE K850i and on the other end my brother's N95 8G. It was fulll of crap. The K850's video quality was reallly poor compared to that of N95 8GB. It was not worth bothering at all because of the small screen and the video window was small too. Although Rogers offers same the rate as voice call for video call, I got charge around $1.00 CAD extra for video call since it comes seperately, which is still the same up to now. With the IPhone 4 Face Time application, people will be able to try video call for free via wi-fi and experience what a video call should have been since it was introduced - in full screen and with high quality video.

You can do this, do that on your SE phone but the question remains, how is the video call quality? The video call had been unappealing until Apple announced Iphone 4. Now video calling will be looked at differently.

Correction, it was not SE who first had video editing application on cell phones. It was Nokia with N95. So your Apple-stole-SE's-VideoDJ-idea thing is nonsense.

Oh WOW no offence but u are a real bitch!
I was just saying that the iPhone 4 should support video call to other phones. Or else there is no point having video calls as the whole world does not own a iPhone 4. I love  stuff and I'm a  fan guy. WOW UR SUCH A BITCH

If you just actually had read the info on Fasttime, I would not have said that. And let's be civil here and stop calling me names. If you can't handle my posts, don't respond to them. Besides, I do not see anything wrong with my last post as a response to yours.

I don't think Video DJ and iMovie are really comparable... It's a totally different league of software. iMovie blows Video DJ away. It's like Video BJ now. LOL

From this image I can see that it'd be a bit tough to pick the phone up. It doesn't have the spce the 2G/3G/3GS have when it's facing up. Thought it can be picked up by holding it by the sides.

@scouccer: can you imagine that jailbreak will be available in june 25th?

they look very similar in fact i think the iphone 4 looks better and every phone is flat like that only a majority of new ones like Elm and Hazel but other than that no other phone (excluding the iPhone 3GS because thats old and 3G) no phone has a curved back as far as I know

Firstly, its facetime secondly i have read ur posts, i am saying the exact same thing your saying, so i say how facetime should be on pdas and smartphones BUT I SAID... it is also good that its exclusive to iphone 4 users so more people will use and buy the iPhone and im saying networks will do otherwise no matter what, its just what they do, be a pain in the a** and your telling me what i said back to me, in a rude manor. reading your posts by the way you write them it makes me think your speaking like this:

@tranced, are you seriously now reducing your comments about the iPhone to how easy it is to pick up?

and... btw... OS 4 beta was already jailbroken at beta 1 so I don't doubt the final version will be jailbroken fairly quickly too

If you compare only hardware then I'm sure HTC, Nokia and others soon will have bigger, stronger and faster phones in no time. But the iPhone has never been about having the greatest hardware. User satisfaction is where Apple is making the other makers struggle to catch up.

There's something seriously wrong when a maker expects a user to replace his/her phone for OS upgrades. AFAIK only Apple has been offering free OS upgrades to their older models. iOS 4 is the exception that the features it offers require more power than the original iPhone can offer so to upgrade to this new version you need to have at least the 3G from 2008.

Until I bought my first iPhone, the 32GB 3GS, I was changing phones every 3-4 months. Now my phone replacements will at most follow Apple's release cycle.
