I have seen live photos from at least four official presentations worldwide (sweden, spain, china, US), but none of them seemed to have a working proto of the s700. They all seemed to have the same dummy with the beach chair sunset pic on the screen...
Weird... not even one working proto must be available at the moment, which justifies the q4 2004 release date!!!

Does S700 has built in FM radio like K700?? Also, does it has a button to turn on the camera lens shutter or u have to manually open it ??

EDGE my take should've been emplemted!! 384kbps (theory), 144 (kbps) real world estimation would've been a blessing with this phone S700, especially sending 1.3 Mp photos over the network, however no phone out there (except NTT DoCoMo's phones) can accept that size so big whoop for now. BUt they should've thought of this for the next 6 months. with all you Europe boys on 3G's network would've seen the full 384kbps bandwidth because EDGE can still go on-top of WCDMA just as it can on GPRS.

let me brake it down fo 'yall.
Pride: the Samsung E715 was kicking but in the USA, elegant design high polytones, no antenna. Look at the resemblance between the two. Now with 40 chords, Bluethooth, EDGE, and Push-to-Talk, oops sorry 4x Zoom its a sure winner in the USA. Trust it Cingular/AT&T as well as T-Mobile could truely enjoy this phone. Canada well Rogers could have it too but I'm hoping Fido will get EDGE in a hurry!!!

Nokia to deliver GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks to TeliaSonera

Frame agreement covers Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
Nokia has signed a frame agreement with TeliaSonera for the modernization and upgrade of its existing GSM/GPRS/EDGE Nokia network in the Nordic countries. Deliveries have already begun and the network upgrade will serve approximately eight million TeliaSonera subscribers in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
"This contract with Nokia will enable us to attain our target of synergy benefits across the TeliaSonera group and grow our business as we evolve to more advanced mobile services," says Lars-Gunnar Johansson, Group Vice President, Corporate Networks & Technology, TeliaSonera.
"We are happy to further strengthen our excellent relationship with TeliaSonera by enabling it to upgrade its networks in order to offer its customers the most advanced mobile multimedia media services and improved user experience," says Jan Lindgren, Vice President, Networks, Nokia.
Under the agreement, Nokia is supplying its complete GSM, GPRS and EDGE systems. In addition, it will provide installation and an extensive range of care services including emergency support to maintain the competitiveness of the solution. The services will be provided using Nokia NetAct(TM), the only fully-featured, multi-vendor, multi-technology operations support system on a single platform.
Sonera (which operates independently in Finland) has already opened its own EDGE network in Finland.

European GSM Oerators Need EDGE Wireless

Europe : The view confirmed by over 70 operators and vendor representatives attending the EDGE Operators' Forum meeting in Rome today is that most GSM operators will deploy EDGE to deliver the best user experience of advanced mobile data services.
EDGE powerfully boosts GPRS data speeds by over 3 times, ensuring better quality and faster services, at incremental cost. EDGE is a smooth low-cost upgrade of existing GSM/GPRS assets and stimulates the take-up and growth of next generation mobile multimedia services.
The complementary role of EDGE with WCDMA is now widely understood. In Europe, WCDMA using new spectrum will serve the major population centres, combined seamlessly with EDGE for serving the rural and semi-urban areas. In many situations EDGE will also be enabled in the major cities.
Discussions highlighted that the bigger the success of WCDMA, the more that operators will be forced to upgrade their existing networks to EDGE, to bridge the speed gap between GPRS and WCDMA with the help of EDGE.
EDGE is already commercial reality in the United States, following the launch by Cingular Wireless in June, 2003. Deploying EDGE is a business decision for operators, to ensure they have the ability to compete, and to safeguard their investments and assets.
TIM was the first major European operator to confirm plans to deploy EDGE with WCDMA. "TIM is in the forefront of the technology development", said Mauro Sentinelli, TIM Managing Director, speaking at the EDGE Operators' Forum meeting in Rome. "We are glad to be the first operator in Europe to deploy EDGE in its network, thus offering always better and friendly services to our customers. As a matter of fact, EDGE deployment in TIM's network is starting, representing an integration with UMTS at the beginning, and an important ally in its maturity."
Mike Bamburak, VP, Technology Architecture and Standards, AT&T Wireless Services (AWS), also speaking at the event, added: "I am happy to report that AWS confirms that EDGE performance lives up to the advertisements on all fronts."
Several manufacturers speaking at the event underlined the huge industry commitment to deliver increasing numbers and varieties of EDGE-capable devices in the coming year. More companies are coming in to the market, and from 2004, EDGE will be a standard feature in all new GPRS phones. 2004 will also confirm the arrival of several dual-mode terminals EDGE/WCDMA phones.
GSA confirmed that approaching 50 operators worldwide had now committed to EDGE deployment. "EDGE is commercial reality, and is already embedded in many networks throughout Europe" said Alan Hadden, President, GSA, who organised the event. "EDGE is necessary in all markets worldwide for speed and capacity, and fully complements WCDMA where new spectrum has been licensed in Europe and Asia Pacific. Cost savings from needing less base station hardware and fewer site splits are compelling".
So, you can't really say "oh, who needs EDGE, GPRS is fine until we get 3G"
